Red copper color, big frothy head. Apple aroma. Very good lacing, in fact prickly. Medium bodied. Malty flavor with alcohol, just a hint of smokiness, some licorice, apple and grapes. Slightly bitter aftertaste. A bit vinous. Not bad, especially for a French beer.

Good offering. Amber in color, slightly hazy, fine head, long lasting. Aroma more yeasty/bready/malty.Tasted less assertive in fruit character than some Belgian versions and with a touch of earthiness I assume from the hops.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - MAR 30, 2003
Grainy nose with dusty smells - kinda musty. Extremely fizzy with a deep amber-red color. Raisiny maltiness, toasted almost smokey or peaty tones. Tight dry end. Medium body and a medium-long profile. Impeccable balance - this is a beer with lots of class.
