A copper colored pour. Thick off-white head that seems to replenish itself with the ample carbonation. Plenty of lacing - more like a coat of foam left on the sides of the glass. A dry malty aroma. Subdued spiciness. A roasted taste right up front followed by malt and a dry spiciness. A nice bitterness develops as I drink. A dry and bitter/sweet aftertaste. Nice. I wish it was a little more malt forward, but it is damn good.

Pours a deep dark burgundy-purple with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, malt, yeast and grass. Taste full of alcohol and malt. Some sourness at beginning letting place to hops warmness and earthy finish. Intense, rough and fuzzy.

Had this during the 2011 Shenandoah Throwdown. Corked and caged bottle as “Red Ale”. Pours a lightly hazed brown with a thin white head. Soft, sweet, malt and toast. Sweet with big carbonation, toasty, sweet musk. Dries out a bit, musk and caramel. Toast and dry musk and caramel.

Tons of creamy head sit atop this beautifully aromatic French Red Ale. Thick lacing. Some warming in the throat from the alcohol, but overall it plays well and doesn’t overwhelm the beer’s amazing flavors. Malty, yeasty, sweet, full bodied.

750mL c&c Gavroche Red label thanks to wickedpete at Shenandoah Throwdown. The pour is a clear tea amber topped by a giant, beige head. Ice cream rockiness persists. Awesome appearance. The nose is odd- candy corn and sugar moving to some odd metals and iron. Taste is big candy corn, mild soap, malt forward but not rich and doughy. Lemon finish. Perhaps some toasted malt qualities. Unimpressed compared to Page 24 Biere de Gardes.

Reddish, not quite a saison. Does have a malt bill of a belgian saison without the yeast strain. Very light and complex tasting, pretty noice.
