COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

BOTTLE 33CL. Look: clear amber with a peach-colored big creamy head with average retention. Aroma: very malty and sweet, fruity, herbal/grassy, has a slight fruity acidic bite too. Taste: sweet but not cloying, some phenolic and possibly hoppy bitterness, just a touch of alcohol, some acetaldehydes and light peppery spiciness. Well into the doppelbock territory, but still drinkable and with a spicy bite.

Bottle - Grain and bready sweet malts. Bit hazy copper with a rich beige head. Slight sour bitterness, caramel and bready malts, booze and fruity finish. Dry in the end and actually quite nice, but I couldn’t drink more than a glass.

Aroma is caramel, funky yeast and mildly perfumed fruit. The flavor is fruit, tobacco/dark fruit, slight nuttiness and a malty/tart finish.

Unsure of bottle date, but purchased by me in October, 2010. A: Foamed over immediately upon prying open. Lost maybe three ounces to the foam. Then this pours a fiery copper ale with four fingers of peanut head which deflates to a broken dome. Excellent clarity. Sheeting lace. S: Sweet malts, hints of caramel, some astringency, some alcohol. Woody, maybe a little oxidized. Hints of tea notes. T: Sweet with tea and herbal flavors. Some nice tawny malts are subtle, but available. M: Medium body with lively carbonation. O: The first time I had this beer, I hated it, this is quite nice actually. Serving type: bottle 07-25-2011

Pours amber with a thick, fine off-white head. Aromas of bread, bananas and a bit of citrus, pears. Taste is alcohol-soaked sweetness over bitter. Pretty alcohol-for 8.5%. Good body, soft carbonation, and a long, kinda astringent finish. An ok beer. Would be better maybe paired with a dessert you didn’t spend too much time making or money buying.

Appearance with amber color, slightly cloudy liquid and high head of foam. Malty aroma with caramel and fruit. Sweety, hoppy and malty taste. Great beer, very strong and concentrated!
