Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

I should have heeded the advise of the person a couple of posts before me. Explosive! Definitely open this one over the sink. So far, it has a beautiful pumpkin orange color, with lively carbonation in the glass. The nose reminds me of yeasty bread and the flavor is offset by the carbonation. The carbonation does lead to a sharp flavor, the body’s reaction to CO2. I will let this one sit for a few and all will be well with the world. Well Done!

FROTHINGSLOSH (5768) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 14, 2015
Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red-orange color with a large fluffy orange-tan head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was malty and sweet with notes of toffee, nut, cherry and cola. The flavor was crisp and spritzy fruitiness followed by light notes of toffee, tobacco and yeast. Medium length finish. Medium body. Interesting.

Aroma: Malt, toast, some caramel, esters, even quite intensive. Appearance: nice head, high and stiff, color is red-brown. Taste: Toffi, a lot of toast, esters, bitterness is very low, sweet. Palate: Body is medium, too high carbonation, finish is semi-sweet with touch of alcohol warming.

11.2 oz Bottle -- Pours deep brown-amber with a medium light tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, fig, raisin, hay, grass, and soy sauce. Heavy on the palate and slightly salty and sour. The alcohol is quite noticeable.

Bottle. Beautiful clear amber pour with a thick head. Aroma is sweet and bready, some fruit and caramel, quite nice. Flavour is also sweet, fruit and bread, a bit cloying without much bitterness to balance, but some nice flavours.

I had this bottle for some 3 years before finally opening it. Brownish amber - I rarely use the word "amber", but here I think that it does apply. Lovely aromas of sweet caramel and booze. Nice, malty on the tongue, sweet and rather spicy, more of the bakery stuff, such as allspice, with dried apricots and stone fruits.Full bodied, great concoction!

Finale lievemente amaro e secco. Ben carbonata e molto piacevole da bere. Positivamente sorpreso, birra molto buona.
