COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

I should have heeded the advise of the person a couple of posts before me. Explosive! Definitely open this one over the sink. So far, it has a beautiful pumpkin orange color, with lively carbonation in the glass. The nose reminds me of yeasty bread and the flavor is offset by the carbonation. The carbonation does lead to a sharp flavor, the body’s reaction to CO2. I will let this one sit for a few and all will be well with the world. Well Done!

Bottle 33cl. Clear deep amber color, two finger fluffy off-white head, good retention and lacing; aroma of candy, fruity, peach, apricot, spicy (cinnamon); smooth medium sweet taste, followed by light bitterness, all the time fruity and spicy notes in the background; medium texture, creamy texture, lively carbonation; finish light bitter, hint of wood and a bit spicy, lingers on for a while. Nice beer.

O,33l fles gedeeld met jeroen op zomervakantie in 2014. Amber licht troebel met crème schuim. Geur rozenbottel en gist. Smaak is een tikkeltje alcoholisch met rum rozijnen. Medium body.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Amber coloured bright beer with white head. Toasty malts, small hint of yeast, bitterness in finish. Quite clean tasting and pleasant enough. I didn’t quite get the point of this beer - if I want a toasty quaffable ale I can get an Alt or Amber at c5%, and if I want something stronger I get more complexity with any Belgian style for 8.5%, this kind of sits in between.

(Bottle) Clear rich amber copper with excellent thick white head. Pleasant interesting aroma, mainly spicy and fruity with some complex notes. Medium body, well carbonated. Taste has a nice spicy bite, perhaps largely from the alcohol, from start to finish. This is overlaid on a nicely balanced mix of subtle toffee sweetness and tangy fruitiness. There’s some bitterness in the finish. Overall a very nice strong beer.
