Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

Amber pour with frothy white head. Fruity nose, hints of strawberry. Little tart but not much flavor. Maybe a little malt, little else. OK.

bottle @ Vino Bellissimo / Lima OH --- Aroma of malt and yeast. Hazy rich amber brown color, beige head, waves of lace. Taste is malt with a little sour mixed in that moves through a carbonated swallow to light hops and a hint of fruit. Pretty strong, and pretty heavy, but I don’t detect the alcohol.

Deep amber with a big beige head. Aroma is caramel, biscuit, wood, some chocolate and floral notes. Same in taste with some toffee. Light sweet aftertaste.

Pours clear, mahogany colour with a decent head. Aroma of caramel, ripe apples and some spices. Malty in the taste with caramel and fruits (strawberries), quite sweet with a short, earthly bitterness and spicy finish. Quite good.

Bottle in LA. INtensely malty, some caramel, but not sweet. finishes medium dry, very clean, I was expecting something more like a saison but the yeast has a very clean finish. Big malty beer - pretty good.

Bottle from somewhere in France. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is yeast, sweet malt. The flavour is moderate sweet with a rich smooth fruity, light alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle. Malty, caramel and spice aroma. Strong malt body with a touch of sweetness and a fine but not heavy handed hop bite.

Bottle. Very nice aroma of toffee and malt. Pours a clear amber with white head. Taste is light to medium sour. Full bodied with a slick texture. This a very interesting beer with a great aroma and palate.
