COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

Deep amber with a medium beige head. Aroma had notes of orange zest, caramel, coriander, some alcohol. Medium bodied with ample carbonation. The flavor held some sweetness tinged with alcohol. Nothing remarkable.

Average amber ale. Big head from bottle fermentation. Little aroma. Taste was malt with little funk or bitterness. Not worth the $4.65/11.2 oz. bottle.

almost clear light auburn color, glaciery rocky head, quite lace inducing. Nose was a mess of tin and strange adjuncty spoilage...Flavors were metallic, dirty, and like old budweiser. Mouthfeel was significantly fizzy to the point of being absolutely distractive, but with this beer, that was probably a good thing. I kept burping...i guess past the metal, it tastes like...some more metal. This is not going anywhere. The carbination is like pop rocks, the flavors are like sucking on regular rocks...this is completely pointless.

At a tasting, thanks Oren, pours an orange with a nice head, aroma of malt, bread and biscuit, flavors of caramel, mushroom, some herby hops and yeast, medium body, ok.

Strong alcohol taste that kills any other flavour other than some sweetness. Tastes a bit like a bock beer with some cheap whiskey added to it. Not impressed at all.

This thing is bottled up like it contains the elixer of life itself...rediculous. Pours red-copper with a moderate off-white head and tenacious lacing. Nose isn’t particularly great, with generic malt, herbs, light hops, and a touch of skunk. Flavor is both sweet and a little sour and again herbal with light bitterness. Very uniform. Finish is bland and sticky. This is nowhere near worth the effort or the price.

This could have been a nice beer if it were not for the over-carbonation. The flavor was nice, malty, with some caramel overtones.

Bottle Conditioned. Copper coloured with white carboated head. Toffee caramel sweetbeer, highly carbonated. Boiled malt with some finishing dryness.

Cloudy Dark orange in colour. Uninspiring on the nose - malty with a smoky caramel edge. Quite a high level of bitterness with a malty flavour accompanied hints of caramel offset by a rusty, yeasty undercurrent followed by a lingering tofee on the finish . This beer tastes every bit it’s 8.5%vol.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2008 11.2oz bottle: pours a hazy chestnut brown with a HUGE HEAD. aroma was almost not even there maybe a hint of hops and alcohol. flavor has a taste of alcohol with an added nut taste. overall i wouldnt buy again but wouldnt turn it down if offered would rate higher if i couldnt taste the alcohol so much. but its no so strong that it should keep you from trying this beer.
