COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

Shared this one w/SkyCop32. Pours a great amber color not like most biere de Garde. Light but strong. Honey sweet but the alchol hangs out a bit to much.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark amber almost brown color - not what I was expecting. Aroma is heavily laden with wild honey, some grain, light grassy hops, but it is really the honey character that comes through. Taste is sweet honey, some cereal and very light hoppiness, especially sweet though. Palate is not sticky despite the very sweet flavor, pretty dry although not really relatively to other examples of this style. Not bad but a bit too heavy for me.

Bottle at home. Hazy, orange with a large off-white head leaving quite some lacework. Aroma medium malty (caramel, roasted, fruity). Flavor medium sweet, light bitter and acidic. Quite a full body.

Bottle, thanks to scott via chris, interesting stuff, it was quite dry, off brown pour, the flavour had a light funk a bit of herb flavour, this one was all over the place

750 ml corked bottle with that nifty french BdG metal clasp; clear, dark amber with thick light tan head; aroma mix of sweet honey and lemons mixed with an almost light cherry syrup and stale malt; first sip has an off-putting bitterness and astringency; crisp mouthfeel with some mild fruity and stale hay flavors; stale raspberry honey with sole husky grain notes; not digging this BdG interpretation too much

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 Amber colour with white head. I had this quite young, so maybe it needs to age. Flavour is bready, yeasty, some fruit, kind of metallic, though. Okay.

Poured into a pint glass. Two fingers of head, a hazy red/amber color body. It has a rich malty smell. Not much else though. Tastes of sweet malt, wet barley, mild bitterness. Tasty and hardy. Lots of carbonation, medium body. An enjoyable beer. Maybe a bit too much carbonation.

Notes of caramel, raisin and ambiguous fruit. Warming booziness, but not too harsh. The flavor is relatively weak during the gulp, but the aftertaste is nice. My first French beer tastes like a mediocre Belgian beer. Mild bitterness. It had a thick metal bar crimped on the cork instead of a basket which increased the rating by 0.1.
