COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

Definitly not a biere de garde.Kind of like a oud bruin/scotch ale hybrid.Huge aromas of scotch, caramel and some kirsch.Big fluffy head to go with a beautiful medium-brownish red color.Smooth mouthfeel with notes of caramel, aniseed, burnt malt to go with a moderate clean and bitter orangy finish. The one I had was past its best-before date so that might explain why it developed scotch and spirits aromas which i dont remember getting with the ones i had before.

Bottle from carrefour@calais, France. Copper beer with large foam head. Aroma of strawberries, caramel and malts. Taste is yeast, malts, hint of strawberry and dry fruit. There is a little alcohol kick in the finish. Very good, a beer to appreciate rather than enjoy.

750 ml bottle purchased at Cigarette City, Seabrook for a price of $9.99. Amber type color thin lasting head. Aroma is light earthy spice, mild herbs and a different yeast Syrian I don’t remotely recognize.

The flavor has a balance of sweet malts and a herbal earthy character that leads to a dry finish. This could be a slightly better if fresh. Of course without any type of best before or bottle date it’s hard to know if this could be better or not. It’s French so likely this is as good as it gets.

Amber coloured. Toffee on the nose. Strong & sweet with a big caramel taste with some fruits. A little too malt heavy. Rated by BrewTom

Butelka, warka do 01-09-17. Olbrzymia, prawie biala piana, ladna, srednio szybko opadajaca, zostawiajaca fajnie nierowna, pofaldowana warstwe, brudzi szklo. Samo piwo prawie przejrzyste, opalizujace, bursztynowo-rubinowe. Aromat w pierwszym odczuciu - kwasne jablka. ale takie fajne, owocowe. Pozniej dochodza mocne karmelowe nuty, troche chleba, generalnie w slodowa strone.

Bottle sampled at home. Pours a hazy copper amber color with a large, rocky off white head. The aroma and flavor have bready malts, caramel, some citrus, light funk, mild peppery spice, a hint of metallic character, ok to try but I wouldn’t seek this out.

From bottle in a tulip glass. Poured a bit quickly and had to wait for head to settle. Nice copper hue. Excellent depth of flavours, almost presents as a self-contained boilermaker thanks to ABV. A very enjoyable experience; too bad the French restaurant where I sampled it has closed down!
