beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA May 7, 2005 Light orange gold color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is grain alcohol, fruit and malt. A medium bodied European Strong Lager. Malts are fruity and sweet. Not sure about the hops. There does seem to be some grassiness to it. Not really unpleasant, but there is nothing here to note as ‘good’. It is drinkable and at 12% alcohol it will get you drunk, but there is nothing much else going on. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with an alcohol bite. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Apr 10, 2005 04.10.05 0.25L bottle, thank god. Yellowish beer, rather still; bubbly, disinterested head leaves sticky spots of lace. Aroma is faint, but sweet, papery, some fruit (plum, white raisin), and shockingly little alcohol. What is a sweet, flat, bland beer at first turns violently into a cloying mess with burning alcohol and lingering blech. Something unpleasant lingers on the back of the palate. It’s a bit like they just added grain alcohol to a barely passable pale lager. OlJuntan64 (1267), Perth, Australia Mar 25, 2005 MCG with small, off white, very short lasting head. Week old drip tray with touch of bandaid amd alcohol aroma. Soft medium smooth thin bodied low carb palate. Medium bitter stale hops and medium candy sugar sweet with lashings of alcohol. OK for a European strong which is quite far from may favourite style. Kelvinator (32), Buenos Aires, Argentina Mar 8, 2005 Clear golden crisp yellow. Gassy, light persistent foam. Average aroma, grassy aroma. Tastes strong of alcohol, which mascarades every other note, and gives a very unpleasant aftertaste. Gave me a quick headache after the second one. Nekronos (2243), Xalapa, Mexico Feb 15, 2005 Updated: Feb 1, 2006Cool!, But it is too strong, 12 degrees!, my stomach was being pierced, hahaha.
But it had caracter nd strong body, although it was not that thick. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA Feb 13, 2005 Bottle. Pours a pretty, clear golden color with a small somewhat fizzy head. Interesting aroma, lagerish with sweet maltiness, hints of lemon and hay. Flavor is sweet initially, I agree with Vac on the odd grassy notes, then there is a strong and unplesant alcohol finish with a bit of spice as well. Mouthfeel is full with little to no carbonation. Overall a weird and unsatisfying biere - kind of like a lager on steroids, but not in a good way. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA Jan 27, 2005 Pours with a goden body topped by a thin to medium thick, white head with little lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet yet bitter and salty with an odd grassiness and a little alcohol. The flavor is slightly sweet and malty with a touch of odd grassy notes and some alcohol. Not very good. Full bodied, slightly warming and surprisingly smooth. tomxcs (315), Golden, Colorado, USA Jan 18, 2005 Crisp golden color, totally transparent, with some streamers and a very small head leaving lace. Aroma insignificant. A little malt, a little sting from the alcohol vapors...otherwise much like a cleaner, more pleasant American lager. Taste is very bland with a little sweetness and tons of alcohol. Warming sensationg. Good drying alcohol character. The mouthfeel is just about the best part of this beer, though watery. After quite a bit of wine with my meal...this knocked me on my ass! Other than that, it’s like Heineken on steroids. Needs a lot more body with appropriate hops if you’re going to make a 12% beer.
