From Uvinum. In Teku glass. After dinner. Delicious caramel taste and nose. Among the best winter beers Ive tasted. A pity its short format (25cl)

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 20, 2016 750ml corked bottle served in a tulip glass. Pours a deep clear amber color forming a medium and very light bubbled light yellow head with medium retention and some molasses lingering lacings formed and left in the glass. Nose is sweet, fruity and bready. Quite spicy too. Hints of nuts. Some flowery hops can be felt in the end. Taste follows the nose. Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of caramel malts and x-mas spices. Hints of dry dark fruits like plum and raisins. Light hops bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. Caramel, honey and earthy finish. Medium drinkability. Not big deal as expected.

Bottle from a French supermarket. Poured a crystal clear dark amber with a frothy white white head. The aroma is sweet malt, fruit, light spice. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth sweet malt palate and a bubbly mouthfeel. Light bodied with lively carbonation.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bouteille: Deep golden to light amber coloured, clear, mid-sized beaten-egg-white-like head, that slowly collapses; sweet caramelly and slightly nutty nose with some x-mas spices underneath; moderate to solid sweet flavour, relatively light bodied for a beer of 7.2%; sweet caramelly and honeyish finish. Not too bad, but pretty monotonous…

Rich toffee and dark honey nose. Dark amber, thick cream colored head, nice lacing. Toffee, pears and tree bark. Rather like candied pears, but not super strong. Light to medium body, easy carbonation. A little watered down.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Mostly clear chestnut color, with basically no head. Aroma is sweet, with cola and brown sugar notes, and a slight spice. Taste is relatively the same, but it’s a little too sweet, with a slightly vomity edge. $4/750

from Au Grain d’Orge, Neuchâtel - clear and bright red-amber beer with a moderate foam left; aroma of caramel and ripe fruits, gentle spicyness; sweet, full-bodid and light sticky; residual sweetness in an aftertaste of apples and undefined spices; light chewy texture - not much character
