Pours bright golden with some fluffy white bubbles on top. Big grassy German hop aroma with some caramel malt. Flavor follows suit, very straight forward. Sweet caramel malt and bitter aromatic German hops. Quite glassy and grassy with a bitter dry finish. Average body/palate, bigger carb bubbles.

Simple and refreshing blonde on a warm day, and it would come into its own next to a roasted bird. Thanks, Matt. The 75 cL pours a bright, dark gold with thin, lacy and quickly receding head. Nose is grainy, malty and lightly sweet, with faint notes of honey and yellow apple I think. Tastes lightly sweet, grainy, moderately bitter, dry. Touch of alcohol shows through. Soft but pinprick carbonation. Solid and bready blonde.

Bottle. Pours clear, deep golden with a medium head. Spicy aroma with vegetable notes. Flavours are spicily bitter, but also with some sweetness. Herbs. Not extremely interesting, but not bad either. But please do not call it a bière de garde.

Ernest (5116) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 1, 2008
Bottle (BB May/09). Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is clear dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), with hints of DMS and honey Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, husky. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Very grainy/husky and a bit vegetal, but otherwise ok (if perhaps boring). Nice head and mouthfeel are its strongest points.

Crystal clear golden, with huge frothy head, thick sticky rings of lacing. Aroma has light coriander up front, faint grass, cereal and pils malt. Cereal, almost pale lager like sweetness, light bready yeast and not much else, cloying. No bitterness whatsoever. Average at best. Fortunately enough, this was a sample bottle from the distributor, passed on to me from local owners, so glad I didn’t waste the 10 spot.

Bottle. Golden color with a fluffy white head. The aroma is spicy and sweet with hints of yeast, apples, pears, citrus, salt and some alcohol. Sweet and spicy flavor with some notes of citrus, apples, yeast, caramel, alcohol, white bread, salt, a bit sourish and cider like.

Pour is deep golden with a thin off white head...smell is lightly musty but more strongly straw and farmyard but not in the funky way, in the straw and crap way)...taste is sweet with bread dough and straw...very thin and one sided...

750 ml...poured an orangish - yellow w/ a fizzy, mostly diminishing white head. Again, I wasn’t able to get much on the aromas...some floral hops, spice, malts, grains, yeast. The flavor was dominated by the malts, but the spice and the hops sneak into the finish. I was also able to pick up some dark fruits (dates, raisins) and some yeast. Palate was medium bodied, kinda oily, w/ high amounts of carbonation. Very enjoyable beer that I’d like to try again.
