3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BBB63 (4939) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - APR 14, 2008
750ml corked bottle and served in my XL Tripel Karmeliet glass: Clean golden hue with a lasting frothy white head and good lacing. The nose found a herbal and spicy character with notes of coriander, fennel, ginger, bready and wheaty grains, light pear and grassy esters as well. The taste starts surprisingly more bitter and acidic that expected with a moderate yeasty and wheat bread background. A weird spice profile shows towards the finish along with some mineral and leafy tones. The mouth feel is refreshing but on the same note almost too carbonated, the aftertaste is muddled and chalky. Not too shabby but for the price ($11) there are better beers I would rather have.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 GreatLibations (1771) - Last Supper, Arizona, USA - APR 8, 2008
Pours golden with a good head that lingers leaving a fluffy lace and full canopy. Smells delicious w/ a mild malty sweetness. Medium nectar with good carbonation. This beer has a crispness balancing the malty backbone. Theres a solid bittering component that sets up shop early and sticks to the end. It’s a rather tasty brew but it doesn’t possess the bready flavors i have grown to expect from this style. The finish is bittered well and lingers on the palate.

Bottle... Clear yellow ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Great retention. Pale grains and spices (lavender and coriander) dominate the olfactory system. Medium to full-bodied and syrupy with prickly carbonation. Sweet, spicy flavor up front; herbal bitterness on the backside. Spicy, bittersweet finish.
