2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
I found this one tucked away in a cupdboard. It may be a biere de garde but I had unfortunately gardee'd it for 5 years past the best before date. Nonetheless, it was still quite drinkable. Poured entrirely flat with no head but developed a petillant spritz on the palate. Curious muted apricot colour, no doubt due the length of time in bottle and not entirely clear. Nose was appley/cidery/citric, with slight vinous and malty undertones. Quite clean and sharp on the palate, with some sweetness. The sharpness lingered on the finish long after other flavours had subsided. All in all though, surprisingly pleasant for a beer 5 years out of date. Must get some more and re-rate when fresher. Bottle, December 2003.
RE-RATE: One hour later and nearing the bottom of the 750ml bottle and I have indigestion already. The acidic/cidery character no doubt contributed. Deduct one point.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice nose of spice with a nice amber robe. The mouthfeel is malt, wheat and spices, between a weisse and a pils. Not as much body as typical Biere de Garde I tried but still an enjoyable little beer.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Spicy, sweet and a bit hoppy aroma.
Deep golden amber, creamy head which dissipates too fast.
Sweet malt flavors.
Light body yet warming.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Golden colour, rich head, good lacing. Faint yeasty aroma. Marzipan and alcohol-flavor. One-dimensional and boring.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Really nice appearnce, clear gold, with nice fluffy head. Tastes like bread and flour, with some lemony acidity in the finish. The mouthfeel feels a bit empty. A bit sugaary aswell. Some herbal hops, but not as much as i like. dissapointing.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pale coloured. This is not a good beer. Very yeasty with some citrusy sourness. I don't like this at all.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Presented in a nice corked bottle. The aroma is of yeast and malt with a hint of orange . The appearance of the beer is as good as the bottle's. Golden with a good white head like a freshly poured pils. Flavour wise it has that yeast start and orange flavours like most balgium beers have. However unlike Belgium beers this has quite a long, crisp, malty finish and is quite highly carbonated. A great beer either way, although it is slightly thinner on the palate than the great beers of which I have compared it to. I would definately have this one again.
