750 ml corked & caged; pours clear dark gold with eggy white head fading slowly; stale honey, dry wheat, a little lemon and wildberry; has a creamy wheat feel to it; drinks smooth with light creamy texture; some sweet honey and dried flowers, but overall the flavor profile is very thin; alcohol level is very deceptive and to me drinks more like 4%; smooth, super drinkable, silky dry malt and honey; I’m enjoying this, but it’s really not very interesting, flavor wise; great for partnering with some food though

Bottled 750ml. Aromas of barley and wheat, not very complex. Bit dry finish. Fresh, fairly drinkable, at least while accompanying my food.

Large can bought at Leclerc supermarket Boulogne, France. An almost syrup like musty aroma. Tastes malty, hoppy, bitter, caramel, wheaty. Quite boozy actually. Bearing in mind I was in France, this wasn’t a bad beer I guess.

Sitting in an empty field in the Rhône valley, slowly becoming mad by an eternally blowing mistral wind, I thought it was time to open up one of the more commonly available biere de gardes in France. Now why did I do that again? It smells like near-rotting vegetables and it tastes like urine. I instantly imaging such a French toilet that’s nothing more than a hole in the ground. At least it finishes slightly bitter and spicy, and it looks decent with a huge white head that leaves loads of lacing. Better leave it on the table to look at then, while I go get something else to drink.
