3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Straightforward, Belgian PA aroma -- tannic, sweetish, a little caramel, slightly floral, a little vanilla, slight banana and female sweat. Good 750ml bottle, handwork label. Candied, sweet, pear/pomaceous flavors, a little astringent, tannic. Slick, medium to slightly dense body, effervescent. This was not terribly complex. but really hit a sweet spot that I have for bitters and belgian PAs. On top of that, I got this at a clearance price of $1.99/750ml -- $1.99/750 ml is not a terrible price for malt liquor, much less a beer of this sophistication. Market Square Liquors, Timberlane.

Bottle. ABV 7,2%. Slightly hazy light copper color with a thick foamy white head. Aroma of yeast, sour fruits and wheat. Dry, sour taste. Some bitterness. My first Biére de Garde so I don’t know what to expect.

Not bad. Looks nice. Smells ok, a little bread. Tastes ok - full mouthfeel. But it’s only ever going to be ok.

33cl bottle @ home [thanks to my parents for bringing this from holiday] shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear golden color, small off-white head. Smell malts, some sweetness, lightly a hint of sweetish wood. Taste malts, lightly sweet, a hint of hops. Low to medium carbo, a bit low bodied for a 7.2%ABV beer, but quite decent overall.

Bottle @ benzai. Golden yellow colour with a small white head. Smells some cheese, moldy, malts, some yeast and just very slightly hoppy. Tastes water, iron, malts. Quite watery for its 7,2%.. Would’ve guessed its a regular 5%.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a cloudy golden color with a tall white head. The nose is primarily made up of sweet malt notes with some apple and pear fruitiness. A touch of yeast and very faint earthy and grassy hop notes. Tastes sort of just sweet and muddled. Mostly biscuit malt, bread, and a bit of toffee. Some fruit notes of apple, pear, and banana. A touch of alcohol and grassy hop flavor on the finish.

This is my favorite French beer I drink a couple every night.
It is now available in 33cl bottles.
It is interesting how few people described the beer accurately as it is flavoured with orange zest and coriander.
Goudale responds well to being chilled.
Gayant brewery also make beers that are sometimes sold in Lidl these are great value and well worth buying I just bought 7 cases of Abaye beer in 75cl bottles for 1.5 euros a bottle - very good value.
Tastes like a less alcoholic and less flavored Goudale.
Damn shame the beer had ben pasteurised. Would love to try unpasteurised Gayamt beers.

Let’s see... I’ve never had a beer sealed with a cork before. 0,75l bottle from France. Pours golden yellow, with a big white head. It’s aroma is slightly dark, sweet with loads of roasted malt. Mid-bodied. Taste is dark, roasty sweet malt, caramel, medium bitter at the end, medium carbonated. Nice one.
