3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
75cl bottle from Leclerc Verdun. Grainy FR-Flemish stronge blonde ale with a smooth natural body but a very sharp alcoholic nose and taste that cannot wholly keep up with its exquisite natural peppery hops. Good ingredients, interesting style, sub par execution, a pity - would have fancied this as a set dinner beer given the price and 75cl bottle.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Blonde lager with a distinctive north European feel. It’s nose and taste are a mix of sweet floral and soft grain combining for a smooth blonde appeal. Golden in colour with a small white head, its strength isn’t evident in its body. The only downside is some fizzy carbonation in the palate.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Despite the surprisingly low ratings of this beer, I think this is easily one of the best de Gardes I’ve had. This was the first beer I was truly impressed with on my trip into Franche Comte. Bright, hoppy, and remarkably drinkable. Floral aroma with some hay and grass at the end.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours clear golden yellow with a very small white head. The nose is straw, corn sugar, light spice like cloves and cardamom. Pastries. The taste is mostly sweet, with a mild tart and a mild bitter. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean, the body is light and finish is long. Tastes better than I expected.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Backlog rating 1-14-2009 (Corked and caged bottle) This beer poured a small white fizzy head that had poor retention, transparent body, fast rising carbonation, one ring of lacing, and a golden hue. The Aroma is sweet, spicy and coriander. The Taste is sweet, spicy and bitter. The Palate is spritzy and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, I did not enjoy the taste of this beer so it is not a beer that I will drink again.
