The best of the Biere de Gardes I’ve tried. It tasted how French stubbies used to taste to me before I got into good beer, and started to find them disgusting. YBasically it’s a very straightforward lager, amped-up to 7% with prominent, bitter/herbal noble hops and and a very dry, cerealy finish.

750 ml. bottle. Amber colour with a persistent head, lace and ring all over. Smell of honey, chocolate, caramel, ripened fruits and brandy. Medium to full body, it pass through your tongue very easily, but leaving an alcohol feeling. Taste is alcoholic, honeoy, fruits, caramel, flowers and some chocolate.

75cl bottle - farmy nose. Wheaty and slightly grassy. More metallic aftertaste. Another letdown.

Goudale / 3 Monts : même combat ! Correcte, passe partout. Rien d’extraordinaire. A le mérite d’exister.

On tap @ Café des 6 Roses (Lille). Clear golden with a medium white head and good lacing. Aroma is grainy with some herbalness and breadied malt. Taste is very similar to aroma. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Drinkable. No real flaws, but I couldn’t qualify that as "tasty".

Bottle, 0.33l & 0.75l. Clear pale amber color with average creamy white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of grainy malt, herbs, fruits and moderate yeast. Taste starts with moderate sweet grainy malt, mildly toasted, following is refreshing herbal and fruity, while finish is mild bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Strong and bold, but still very drinkable...

Blonde golden foam Goudale is medium but rather persistently. His nose is fruity. Medium round in the mouth, it reveals a final dominated by a strong alcoholic presence and aromas of apple aftertaste.

Une bière avec un goût de céreale vraiment prononcé, le bon goût de grain est très présent, le seul problème c’est quelle désidrate plus quelle hydrate.
