From the tasting notes. Bottle. Pours clear golden, white head. Tart and fruit. Not bad. Different than the current american range of bad Biere de Gardes.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in an elongated tulip glass. The beer pours a light amber color, with a moderate off-white head. The nose shows some initial skunkyness, before transitioning to more inviting aromas of malt and subtle Belgian/Continental yeast esters. The palate replicates these items, showing Germanic malt sweetness in the approach and mid-palate, before some estery notes; the latter falling short of Trappist proportions, but fairly noticeable, just the same. Carbonation seems slightly low, but this may be more a matter of personal preference, rather than stylistic error. The finish leaves a restrained malt/ester note. Overall, a seemingly stylistically accurate beer that is pleasant, but also fairly unmemorable.

Bière sympathique pour des soirées sympas entre amis!
On la trouve souvent en supermarché et elle est inévitable à coté des 1664 et autres heineken

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Yields an amber-golden color with a medium sized, froth, white head.
Smells of flowery, slightly tart yeast with a hint of wet grass to it, coated up by white bread dough. Reveals a subtle clove and pepper spice note once the beer warms up.
Has a medium carbonation, which turns up the volume after the swallow, finishing effervescent and refreshing with a noteable warmth, once the liquid goes down to the belly.
Tastes of calming white bread malts with an uprising, biting spiciness, inheriting a sweet, sugary note, opening up the palate to cakey malts. Finishes with rock sugar, bitter cardamom and dried herbs among an aqueous softness.
Tastes like a lighter Triple, which got a prominent spiciness to it, defining the taste while the beer remains pleasantly refreshing.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
A - Poured in an over sized wine glass. Clear copper with a 1 finger white head leaving a corner ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass. Very little lacing.
S - Grassy yeast, bread with some honey notes, earthy grains, green apples, with some spiciness as well.
T - Malty followed by a spicy citrus. Tart fruits-pears & apples. Some cereal and sour grain in the background along with mild alcohol notes. There’s also some metal present. It comes through in the aftertaste as well. The finish is tart and crisp.
The metallic aftertaste of this beer bugs me. This was an ok Biere de Garde. It’s worth a try though.

En snäll öl som förgyller strupen med lika delar sötma och beska. Påminner en hel del om Duvel. Definitivt en av de bättre i sin prisklass.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Its body has a deep orange amber color with a good cloudy appearance and a tall off white head. The head quickly fades down to a thin cap which then holds on well making spotty slick lacing on the glass. The aroma is very wheaty and bready. Underneath that are some light citrusy notes of hops. The flavor has dry wheat, light grain and light bready malty notes throughout. Towards the finish a light touch of citrus hops moves in and adds some bitterness for balance. The finish is quick, snappy and dry. The palate has a medium well carbonated feel. Overall it is a very nice Biere de Garde with loads of tasty wheat maltiness. Everything else is right on par for the style.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2006 pours a goldn yellow with a nice looking bubbly head that laces very well. the aroma is peppery, with some malty elements. flavor is much the same with a leathery note. Biere de grade seems to resemble a triple in many ways: nice mouthfeel: better than Ch ti

Cristal-clear copper-coloured beer, luminous, with a white head.
Smell is malty white pepper coriander and metallic honey sweetness. Hint of mint. Taste is bready watery, nice bitterness, well balanced against subtle sweetness. Hint of honey. Astringent finish. Quite OK.
