This is my favorite French beer I drink a couple every night. It is now available in 33cl bottles. It is interesting how few people described the beer accurately as it is flavoured with orange zest and coriander. Goudale responds well to being chilled. Gayant brewery also make beers that are sometimes sold in Lidl these are great value and well worth buying I just bought 7 cases of Abaye beer in 75cl bottles for 1.5 euros a bottle - very good value. Tastes like a less alcoholic and less flavored Goudale. Damn shame the beer had ben pasteurised. Would love to try unpasteurised Gayamt beers.

Can from French supermarket. Pours clear golden with a medium persisting white head, good lacing. The smell is strong malty and yeasty, malty and strong hoppy in the mouth, but not very specific. The taste is heavy bitter, medium sweet, with a long bitter aftertaste, the sweetness decreasing faster. The palate is oily, heavy bodied. Strong and rather well balanced.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks keremk. Clear light golden with medium white head. Sweet aroma of bubblegum, fruity (pear, peach), notes of honey and flowers. Very sweet flavor, fruity (peach, apple, citrus), notes of caramel and honey, a bit alcoholic, dry. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Clear golden. Aroma of fruity esters (lots of apples, some other fruits), some spice, a bit of perfume, and an alcoholic note. Mildly sweetish flavor, fruity, mildly spicy, with a bitterish finish and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied.

From the very old notes, hence this is not a real rating, but more just a mark to myself that I have tried this at one point. Didn’t really like some of the flavor of this one, alcohol was also way too strong.

Weinartiger Geruch, Traube, Hefe, Aprikose. Beginnt süßlich-hefig. Mitte Gewürze, Hefe, wirkt streng. Abgang bitter, hefig-streng, prickelnd, alkoholisch. Gut, gutes Bier, was für Giscard d’Estaing.
