Bottle: First rating for this brewery, a great soft, subtle beer with nice blending of malts and spices. A great session beer but with care @ 7.8% ABV. Food Pairing: Cheese platter.

Bottle 330ml from la Grande Epicerie, Paris. Tasty beer. Aromas of caramel, hay, and straw. Taste is sweet and sour, with good length. Palate is velvety, with a medium body. Yellow, with a thin head.

Straightforward, Belgian PA aroma -- tannic, sweetish, a little caramel, slightly floral, a little vanilla, slight banana and female sweat. Good 750ml bottle, handwork label. Candied, sweet, pear/pomaceous flavors, a little astringent, tannic. Slick, medium to slightly dense body, effervescent. This was not terribly complex. but really hit a sweet spot that I have for bitters and belgian PAs. On top of that, I got this at a clearance price of $1.99/750ml -- $1.99/750 ml is not a terrible price for malt liquor, much less a beer of this sophistication. Market Square Liquors, Timberlane.

Det här var en favoritöl för några är sedan och det var nog tre är sedan jag drack den senast. Det här är fortfarande en bra öl med kryddig smak av jäst och lite syra, kroppen är stabil och ölen är välbalanserad i största allmänhet.

330ml bottle. Sour lemon and yeast aroma, nicely done Belgian style beer, with bags of flavour; hints of coriander, orange zest, cinammon and cloves. Sweet and a touch sugary, without going too far. Warming in the chest, lively pour, good dusty gold appearance, biscuit finish, with the sourness staying right through. Very enjoyable.

750ml bottle - clear yellow golden body, thin white top. Not much in the way of nose, a bit grassy, a certain estery note. Loads of spiciness on the taste, bready notes, dough, nice Belgian elements to this. Aftertaste of banana and clove, gives the impression of a wheat beer on the way out... strange, but I like this a lot.

I might not be totaly impartial since that beer is frome my hometown, but there I go... Goudale is a "Bière de Garde", a beer very close to the Belgian blond ales, Nice beer to appreciate flemish food, and may be used to cook "welsh" and "carbonade flamande". The beer has some grassy and metallic notes, witch is usual on Biere de Garde made with flemish hops, but has a sweater finish, with a bit of caramel and banana. The beer has a little bit higher level of bitterness as the average Belgian blond ale, but is still quite light, with a pinch of astringence. Goudale one of the cheapest ale you may find in almost any supermarket in France. That fact taken in account, Goudale might be one of the best balanced, all-purpose beer. Of course, because it’s a cheap beer, it’s not 100% Barley, nor very hoppy and lacks a bit of temper, but as an affordable ale, it’s a very nice one, overall.

July 2015, bottled in 2005. APPEARANCE – super light golden color. White head laces nicely, but dissipates quickly NOSE – grassy and slightly earthy hoppy scents. FLAVOR – first thing I noticed is the good mouthfeel, kind of like a stout. Light flavor with something I can’t quite identify. Could be the contribution of the wheat or rice. NOTES – the flavors of French Terroir comes through.
