3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tallahassee, Fl - World Market - 750 ml bottle. Noticed this before Christmas at $10.99 - waited until it was on clearance for $5.49. Murky dark orange pour, nice silky white head. Yeasty, citrusy aroma with a touch of rising dough. Flavor is mellow and smooth with some hints of licorice, yeast, backed bread and a touch of citrus in the back end - no real high points. Mouthfeel has good solid carbonation. Not bad considering the price.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. It pours a clear, dark golden body and a dense, off-white head. Spiced, berry-ish nose with gale and caramel. It’s full-bodied and well carbonated, maybe a bit high actually. Smooth though. The flavor is more or less as the aroma, spiced, berry-ish and caramel-ish. Some bitterness chimes in towards the end. Tasteful, but not my idea of a Christmas beer. Not my kind of beer in any way actually, but not bad. 110108

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. A clear, sparkling beer, amber to copper in color, and topped by a dense off-white head. Slightly berry-sourish on the nose, with a healthy dose of malts and caramel. Gives a quite sweet impression. A spiced note is also present, and there’s some hop scents. The mouthfeel is quite dry, even though it’s no problem tasting the residual sugars. Some spicy notes and caramel chime in, and towards the end there’s a pleasant bitterness. There’s alcohol warmth too, all the way, and I find it too evident, but not over the top. Overall, a decent beer, well suited for a quiet night by the fire, it’s not the beer you enjoy with the Christmas food. 100227

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bouteille (750ml): Amber, hazy, medium-sized and quite stable loose white head; sweet roasty and caramelly nose, accompanied by a subtle fruitiness underneath; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour; vinous-fruity and caramelly finish, some X-mas flavours and a slight acidity around. Not so bad as expected......

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750mL bottle purchased at Cost Plus World Market in Davis, CA. On sale for $4.99. The aroma initially had a bit of a cheesy funk, before that dissipates pretty quickly. Leaves some sweet caramel toffee notes in the aroma. A bit peppery with some fruity yeast esters are also detected. Moderately hazy amber body with a nice off-yellow head that is pretty strong. Leaves some good lacing. Starts and finishes pretty dry and a bit woody. Some mild sweetness in the middle with some fruity yeast esters. The roasted woody, dry flavor comes through in the finish. Just a little too dry for my liking, and the flavor is pretty straight forward. Meh.

Aroma is a bit too soapy clean. Looks great. Flavor has a nice spice; actually seems like a bit of pumpkin more than anything else. Smooth finish but only a decent body.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml. Deep amber hzy body with a frothy, off-white head. Malty, Christmas spicy aroma with notes of toasted grain, nutmeg and cinnamon. Hints of flowers and orange peel. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Light to medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Dominant taste of spice yet it is not forced or overpowering. Nice, slight acidity in the finish works well with the spice.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a rich clean brown with a nice light head. Smells of yeast and sweet vanilla. Flavor is a bit sweet with light malts. The flavor of this beer isn’t as strong as many holiday ales and it is quite easy to drink. Sweet and malty with a bit of egg.
