(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a dense, creamy, off-white head. Intense - and very Belgian - aroma of yeast, fruit and phenols. Quite full-bodied with a soft mouthfeel, plenty of yeast, fruit and phenols, but all in a good way. Dry, lightly bitter finish. An excellent Christmas beer. 180108

Bottle from Artisanales Bières Belges, Crissier, Switzerland
As soon as opened the bottle starts gushing quickly; only half of the bottle contant reaches the glass, with a cloudy dark amber color. Medium intensity for the caramel aroma, while the caramel flavor is stronger; there is enough sweetness to make a round body, some candi sugar, too much carbonation, and a delicate spicy touch. The final has some light chocolate too. Quite good.
Earlier Rating: 1/20/2008 Total Score: 3.3
Nice red-amber color; big head. The malty aroma has a fruity touch. The flavor is basically caramel, a dark and quite bitter quality. Ordinary.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. It pours a clear, dark golden body and a dense, off-white head. Spiced, berry-ish nose with gale and caramel. It’s full-bodied and well carbonated, maybe a bit high actually. Smooth though. The flavor is more or less as the aroma, spiced, berry-ish and caramel-ish. Some bitterness chimes in towards the end. Tasteful, but not my idea of a Christmas beer. Not my kind of beer in any way actually, but not bad. 110108

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. A clear, sparkling beer, amber to copper in color, and topped by a dense off-white head. Slightly berry-sourish on the nose, with a healthy dose of malts and caramel. Gives a quite sweet impression. A spiced note is also present, and there’s some hop scents. The mouthfeel is quite dry, even though it’s no problem tasting the residual sugars. Some spicy notes and caramel chime in, and towards the end there’s a pleasant bitterness. There’s alcohol warmth too, all the way, and I find it too evident, but not over the top. Overall, a decent beer, well suited for a quiet night by the fire, it’s not the beer you enjoy with the Christmas food. 100227
