Bottle picked up from Hop Duvel Warehouse Gent Poured lighter and than expected, with a typical Belgian nose, sweetness and yeast dominate some nice soft carbonation, this is fine but no great shakes

On tap at 13e Kerstbierfestival, Essen. Slightly yellowish copper colour with a rather small head. sweet and fruity aroma. Flavours range from vegetables with some spices thrown in for good measure and a dry finish. Points for originality rather than craftmanship.

(Draught@Kerstbierfestival 2007, Essen) Hazy dark amber with a smallish head. Lots of anise in the nose, very herby-medicinal, but nice. Herby-anisey flavor with hints of alcohol. Medium-bodied, quite thin palate with low carbonation. Spicy, but flavor- and palatewise not that special.

Draught. Served bl%dy cold Chestnut coloured, with small but persistent off-white head. Slightly smoked nose, pinecharacter and lightly spicy. Spicy-bitterish flavours, a bit of caramel, but no sweetness left. Alcohol obvious. Retronasal a lot of roasted notes. Quite full bodied, even the freezing serving T° could not hide that - it just managed to top off the alcohol a bit. I got a distinct idea this is one that grows on you.
