For more than a century, Saison Voisin was beloved in the famous Hainaut region of Belgium until, in 1989, Leon Voisin closed the little brewery where it was made. The Brasserie des Géants, or ’Giants Brewery’, revived this rustic and historic ale with Monsieur Voisin’s blessing in the year 2001, using an original recipe from 1884. It is light on the tongue and refreshingly fruity and bitter, as a true saison should be.

large rocky frothy offwhite. good lacing. mostly diminishing. flat dark amber body. aroma: citrus orange, apple, honey, metal. if:moderate sweet light acidic. ff: moderate sweet light acidic bitter; long duration. palate: light medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, light astringent finish. 25 s

Amber coloured and clear, nice full head. Hoppy and fruity aroma wit some notes of elder flowers which reminded me on a classic american pale ale. Flavour is: caramel, nuts and biscuit which reminded me on a classic british ale. Full body with a long lasting taste.

(Bottle, Le Bier Circus, Brussels, 24 Oct 2014) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of orange peel, dried apricots and slightly grassy hops. Malty, fruity taste with crisp-bread, apricots, orange peel and a fairly dry finish with a balanced bitterness. Medium body, with just a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty, but I have tried more complex saisons. Quite nice.

Une très belle saison au nez qui allie de belles notes maltées et houblonnées sur un fond épicé, avec une bouche fraîche, digeste, avec une belle amertume et de la longueur. Une des plus belles saisons dégustée jusqu’à présent.

Not my kind of beer. The hops are too forward, and the malt too behind. It’s drinkable, but just not my kind of beer.

Transparent amber, strong white head. Fruit and some nut on the nose. Bitter sweet with fruity notes, finishes light bitterness and malty fruit. Nice and refreshing, little else to it.
