COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For more than a century, Saison Voisin was beloved in the famous Hainaut region of Belgium until, in 1989, Leon Voisin closed the little brewery where it was made. The Brasserie des Géants, or ’Giants Brewery’, revived this rustic and historic ale with Monsieur Voisin’s blessing in the year 2001, using an original recipe from 1884. It is light on the tongue and refreshingly fruity and bitter, as a true saison should be.

Bottled 0.33L at Tuulensuu. Mild spicey nose with some hops too. Large pale beige head. Golden colour. Hoppy malty taste. At the end hoppy bitterness. Adding the rest softened the taste.

This is very plain for a saison, does not have all that funky character one would expect.

This is an intriguing beer especially for being a Saison. It does not have the bright notes of spices and such that one would expect. It does not hit the tongue on the tip or the sides but rather all the way in the back of the mouth. There is little lingering and for me left me wanting a little bit more bang for my buck.

Bottle at home, from my Maudite glass. Oh Maudite glass, how I love you... Pours murky bronze/pink/mud brown. Odd colour, a bit of green in there too... Almost puice. Interesting... 1-finger thick cream-coloured head, which is reasonably long lived and laces moderately well. Nose is French bread, like Brioche, dense, and grainy, with some definite yeast esters floating around in there as well. I wouldn’t immediately guess this as Saison by the aroma alone. Some citrus here too, in the lemon family, with candy and a bit of soap. Flavours of Bready cake, almost like Italian Pannetone, with the raisins, spicy without being overtly hoppy, some pepper notes, some rye-bread notes, lots of yeast esters. Almost like drinking a loaf of rye bread. Fascinating.

bottle from Bierzwerg. Hazy amber colour, mid-sized white head. Intensive hop aroma with a touch of fruit. Very light-bodied, shy malty background, lots of bitter and aromatic hops, very fruity.

Bärnstensfärgad öl med lätt grumlighet. Vitt skum. Kryddiga, örtiga dofter, lite jäst och grape. Samma trevliga egenskaper kommer igen i smaken.

750 ml bottle to my Duvel glass. Pours hazy dark amber with a big fluffy white head that slowly fades to a foamy film that lasts and shows sticky lacing. Aroma is subtle fruity hops and peppered crackers. Taste is gentle bitter fruity hops and spice with biscuit a white pepper. Palate is medium and has good carbonation with a dry finish. Very easy drinking and rather refreshing.

33cl bottle. Orange/golden and quite clear. very small white head. Nose : Bread with basement yeast notes. Dried fruits with dominating citrus grapefruit aromas. Sip : Small sweet brief start with a quite strong and refreshing bitter following. The hops are grapefruit like. Good bitter refreshing beer.
