For more than a century, Saison Voisin was beloved in the famous Hainaut region of Belgium until, in 1989, Leon Voisin closed the little brewery where it was made. The Brasserie des Géants, or ’Giants Brewery’, revived this rustic and historic ale with Monsieur Voisin’s blessing in the year 2001, using an original recipe from 1884. It is light on the tongue and refreshingly fruity and bitter, as a true saison should be.

Not my kind of beer. The hops are too forward, and the malt too behind. It’s drinkable, but just not my kind of beer.

Transparent amber, strong white head. Fruit and some nut on the nose. Bitter sweet with fruity notes, finishes light bitterness and malty fruit. Nice and refreshing, little else to it.

dense ivorywhite head leaves lacing and foamhead. copper color. aroma is some fruit esters, spices, bit sweet. taste is like aroma with a pronounced and rather harsh bitter finish, bit peppery. medium body, very carbonated. quite atypical saison.bottle 33cl / bbf mar-2016

One of the first Géants beers but taken over from retired brewer Léon Voisin, hence the name. Very thick, moussy, cream white head, orangey amber colour, clear but hazy with deposit. Aromas of caramel, peach, apple, grapefruit, nutmeg, lemon peel, leather, ginger, yoghurt, pepper, earth and something vaguely sulphuric. Light malty taste, fresh tartness, fruity hints without becoming too sweet, spicy, earthy and yeasty, with a long, dry, hoppy finish as expected from the style. Very appetizing.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Kris Wines. A pleasantly soft saison, both aroma and flavour wise.

Ik drink graag saison-bieren, maar dit is toch een van de mindere dat ik al geprobeerd heb. Het is zeker niet slecht, maar het smaakt niet echt zoals een echte saison zou moeten smaken vind ik

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe, shared with jeevan. Pours clear amber, thick white head. Aromas of light grass and caramel malt. Taste is verging towards British bitter territory, not Belgian in the slightest. Caramel, light spice/herbs. Slightly sweet finish. Odd.
