COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For more than a century, Saison Voisin was beloved in the famous Hainaut region of Belgium until, in 1989, Leon Voisin closed the little brewery where it was made. The Brasserie des Géants, or ’Giants Brewery’, revived this rustic and historic ale with Monsieur Voisin’s blessing in the year 2001, using an original recipe from 1884. It is light on the tongue and refreshingly fruity and bitter, as a true saison should be.

Pours an amber body with a foamy white head. Floral, dusty, hints of earth and some light caramel. Spicy with a bitter dusty finish of apple skin. 3.0

33cl from Mi-Orge Mi-Houblon. ABV 5%, ambrée. It pours a hazy, light amber in colour with a nice and persistent white head. At first sip it reminds a Belgium ale with some citrus notes. Then one gets the bitter flavour and ends in a dry way. Quite good, but I don’t see what makes it a Saison apart from the light alcohol content.

blonde bien dorée légèrement trouble. Nez céréalié De la rondeur et du corps sur la langue. Une petite amertume malto-florale. Pas trop mal équilibré. Ca semble sans prétention mais ça reste tout a fait intéressant.

33cl Maybe not wholly convincing as a saison, but a tasty Belgian ale nevetheless, with characteristic caramalt and fruity yeast sweetness to accompany the herbal hops and dry saison palate. At 0,5-1% lighter, I could see this as a go-to summer barbecue beer.

September 2011. From bottle. Deep straw yellow color with a large white head. Fruity aromas with some yeast present. High carbonation and a hoppy, bitter finish. An OK saison, but not my favorite.

Bottle into a Belgian glass, poured with a thick head which reduces down quickly, the aroma is very fruity cough drop, the taste has fruit prevelent, some bitterness and good carbonation, residual bitterness. Not the best.
