Dubbel named after the local dialect for hedgehog, with a thick, creamy head and malty profile, yeasty, dried fruits, sweetish with chocolatey touch, caramelly, gentle roasted bitter in the finish. Well-balanced.

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a dark amber to brown color and large cream colored head, with a lot of bubbles. The aroma has tones of brown sugar, sweet rum, vanilla, raisins and caramel. However this is noticable, the aroma is not very strong. The taste is sweet and is translated to some notes of yeast, sweet dark fruits and some bread. The finish is fairly matte and disappears relatively quickly for such pressure flavors. A nice one, but one I will soon forget, because it’s not very special.

ipamonger (74) - New Brunswick, CANADA - AUG 24, 2014
Pours a dark amber, with an eggshell head. Aroma of bananas, malt, caramel, bit of vanilla, and a bit of alcohol. Bitter-sweet balance, balanced carbonation. Body is ok, with a watery feel. Maybe some (green?) apple. Very little character. Not much to it. Decent beer to drink and not think about.

DomD (132) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - AUG 8, 2014
Poured from 33 cl bottle. Roasty aroma. Pours a dark brown with a good amount of head. Medium to heavy bitter taste. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, with a bitter finish. Overall it is a bitter take on the strong dark Belgian style.

OOKPIKABLE (143) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 6, 2014
Tastes like a brine, but not a great deal more going on here. Not a great deal of flavour.

Bruine kleur met dikke beige schuimkraag. Ruikt naar citrus, hoppig. Smaakt prima, redelijk bitter, beetje zuur. Geen makkelijke.

guzgorog (389) - FRANCE - APR 28, 2014
Bière brune foncée, beau col de mousse crémeuse beige et très persistente. Nez de malt grillé, de marrons et de caramel. Amertume plutôt importante pour ce type de bière, la malt grillé domine (un peu de café), légèrement sucrée. Interessant !
