lusikka (6340) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 4, 2013
330 ml bottle. Rated on 2.3.2013.
Gusher. Pours a deep brown colour with a white beigeish head. Aroma is repulsive with sweetness, sewer and dough. Flavour of spices, heavy nuttiness, heavy sweetness, roasted malts, dough, yeast and mold. Light bodied, high carbonation. Something is seriously wrong with this bottle. It seems that I’m not the only one who has encountered such a bottle.

This is a pretty good brown. It doesn’t something that is pretty difficult in a style crowded with high quality beers, its distinctive. Most of this distinctiveness comes out in the color of the beer (slightly red) and the flavor (a bit more berry fruitiness than you’d expect). Overall, pretty good!

Reddish colour. Aroma has some bready, yeasty notes. Also some woody, malty tones akin to a whiskey. These come through in the flavour too together with some sweeter fruity elements. Quite a warming finish.

22/VII/2012 - 33cl bottle @ Erwin’s place - BB: III/13- (2012-740) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!

Clear ruby red beer, big irregular off-white head, unstable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing. Aroma: forest fruits, caramel, elder berries, some citrus fruits. MF: good lively carbon, maybe a little too much, medium body. Taste: mocha and bitter chocolate first, touch of caramel, dried fruits, bitter hoppy touch, little vinous. Aftertaste: mocha, bitter hops, cocoa powder, little fruity, bit vinous again, mocha.

Very much like a stronger version of an English brown ale, taste was of corn, yeast, malts and cereals

Swaroga (1385) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAY 17, 2012
33cl bottle. Strong hazy, brown liquid with tanned and medium to big head. Nose : toffee roasted malts. Sweet smell of tart. Some spices like cinnamon and a bit of clove. Sip : oily , slow to medium body with tingling carbonation. Sweet tart and toffee start. Roasted transition and the end continues with sweetness and toffee. Not bad.
