2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ben4321 (2227) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAY 23, 2011
Location: Draft at RnH, 2/19/11
Aroma: Not much going on aroma-wise, light malty notes
Appearance: It pours an amber color with a smallish head
Flavor: The taste has some caramel/toffee, touch of yeast
Palate: The body is slightly sticky, a touch watery, nothing special
Overall Impression:
Overall, this stuff wasn’t particularly exciting at all. Another fairly unimpressive offering from Gearys. At this point I really shouldn’t be disappointed.

Deep mahogany (right?) Sweet/tart.Spicy. Or spicy in a way I’m just not crazy about Not elements in a beer that tend to bring endearment.

I am quite impressed with this beer, it has a fruit and mildy tart taste with malts that are slightly toasty. hops are present but takes a back seat. this a good beer to come home too after work.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 gsteph (306) - knoxville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 6, 2004
Reddish brown pour with a quickly receding head. Fainy sweet, malty aroma and a little bready. Predominant hoppy flavor, very bland, watery backbone. Some dry nuttiness. Thin, but crisp, with a slightly bitter finish. Definitely not a favorite.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 nick76 (3591) - Tampa, Florida, USA - FEB 22, 2008
The aroma is somewhat chocolaty with toasted malt and grain husks. The appearance is light brown with a medium head. The flavor is like the aroma and the finish sweet. The palate is average. Overall this is average.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 mkgrenwel (455) - Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 22, 2007
Looks nice in the glass at least. Butterscotch (diaectyl) Caramel, nutty, malty. Pretty high level of carbonation. Alcohol? Pretty hoppy for the style. Boring. I should know better than to even bother with a brown ale.
2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Oakes (10196) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 4, 2003
On cask at the Great Lost Bear Brownish-amber colour. Slightly spicy (nutmeg) aroma with hints of sour milk and nuts. Toasty, milky (I think this is a by-product of their mutated Ringwood yeast because it appeared in other Geary's I sampled later), with some earthy hops. Finishes earthy.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - NOV 18, 2006
12 oz bottle consumed at cellar temp from a Corsendonk glass. Deep chestnut color with a smallish lasting creamy off-white head, fairly clear-bodied, little in the way of lacing....aroma is really -- how best to put -- neutral? vaguely defined caramel malts and hints of wood/nuts but it takes a while before I can tell that I’m not just smelling the glass; eventually light herbs come to the fore and it ends up rather root-beery....on the palate, too-heavy carbonation, more herbal character, dry and bitter with sour grape touches, overall it has something of the character/mouthfeel if not exactly the flavor of a strong ginger beer, and I’m not terribly enchanted.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 blipp (3920) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - FEB 21, 2011
Draft. Pours amber with an off white head. Lightly sweet malt aroma, with some earthy and dirty notes. The flavor has some sweet toffee and some dirty diacetyl like notes. Not that good.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Kinz (2693) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - JAN 3, 2005
Amber, little head died totally. Literally no aroma. Flavor was weakly of roasted malts, with the characteristic tinge of sourness. Literally nothing else happening here. Sad.
