COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The D.L. Geary Brewing Co., Inc. is celebrating 25 years in business by releasing a “Silver Series – Master Brewer’s Selection”. The brews will be created and brewed by Geary’s long time brew masters and will be available quarterly, exclusively on draught. The brews will each be named after the master brewer that created them. The first release, COOLEDGE Oatmeal Stout, will be released during the week of January 31, 2011. This fine selection is brewed by Sean P. Cooledge, a brewer at Geary’s for over 17 years. This oatmeal stout includes oatmeal in the grist, resulting in a pleasant, full flavor and a smooth profile that is rich without being grainy. The color is dark brown and the roasted malt character is caramel and chocolate-like — smooth and not bitter. Coffee, chocolate and nut aromas are prominent.

(Bottle from Tully’s) Very dark cola brown with three solid fingers of tan head. Aroma of chocolate. Mouthfeel is smooth but with some detracting prickliness and wateriness. Flavor of dark and milk chocolate with hints of coffee and roast.

On draft at Flynn’s. Poured a milky black with a tan head into the tulip glass. Aroma is of bready black malts with a nice roasted nut background. Delicious and so easy, so smooth.

On Draft @ the Great Lost Bear. Pours dark brown to black with huge, frothy white head. Produced lots of lacing down the glass. The aroma is strong coffee with some light bitter chocolate. The flavor is more of the same with coffee, chocolate a good amount of roasted malts. You also get the oatmeal taste which gives it a thicker, smooth mouthfeel. I have a good feeling this is one of Geary’s better brews.
