COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hampshire has a huge toasted malt flavor balanced by assertive hoppiness. The finish is long and lingering with the malt and hop notes blending with alcohol warmth. Two row English malts (pale, crystal and chocolate); Cascade, Mt. Hood and East Kent Golding hops.

Orange-maroon-amber brew. Despite a frisky body, the head is rather thin. An aroma characterized by toasted English crystal malts, nuances of toffee, and a rife with fruity hops. Caramelized malt body, candi sugar, treacly pricks, fruity and leafy hops all contribute to the flavor profile. WHile this has the profile of a strong ale and is medium in body, it never seems alcoholic or unbalanced. A solid brew all the way through.

translucent amber with a bubbly beige head, medium body with high carbonation.

aroma: sweet and funky - definite brett or pedio. good though.

taste: caramel and chocolate malts, brett/pedio funk. not super sour like a geuze, but funky like a saison.

12 oz bottle thanks to Scott. Poured a reddish/orange with lots of rising carbonation and an average sized creamy light beige head with some nice lacing. Aroma of wet bread, metalic notes, distant nutts, light citrus and some melted toffee. Fuller bodied with lively carbonation and a long lingering finish. Flavor is much better than the aroma, notes of toffee, nutts, bread, crusts, some fruit skin and rind. Good beer.

Draft at Great Lost Bear. Complex, enticing aroma, malty, fruity and lightly spicy, with notes of dark fruits (plum, raisin), dark brown sugary sweetness, faint hints of chocolate and earth. Clear dark amber-brown color, head is uneven and very fine. Flavor profile is malty, gently sweet, fruity and mildly roasty, finish is bittersweet, with suggestions of nut, dried fruit, faint esters and hop spice. Moderately high level of carbonation on the palate, gently prickly and with a good heft to it, medium-full body. Quite tasty and well done. I’d certainly like to try more of this one day.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber with a white head that subsides to a film.

Arom: Spicy sweet barley candy. Sweet apple.

Taste: Tart and sweet apple cinnamon Hop bitterness in the background.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied moderate carbonation.

Overall: There are things I like about the beer and things I don’t understand about it. I get big time green Apple in many English Strong Ales, and this one wasn’t lacking in the green apple department.

On tap at Jimmy the Greeks in Old Orchard Beach. A wonderful medium amber brew with a good malty backbone. Lots of roasty malts. Good hoppy bitterness and finish on the backside, especially with the East Kent hops. Goes down very smoothly.

ROGUE (2086) - Newark, Delaware, USA - SEP 6, 2011
12oz bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a rocky light tan head that recedes quickly. Aroma is of spicy hops, crystal malt, yeast, and a subtle pepperiness. Initial taste is spicy hops, that gives way to malty sweetness, with some noticeable alcohol and ends with solid bittering in the finish, with a lingering, thickness at the back of the tongue. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy with a medium body. Very nice balance.

Bottle. Copper pour with a very light copper-white head that fades into a ring. Aroma is dark fruit, caramel malt, and tea. Medium mouthfeel - carbonation is present. Flavor is toasted malts, caramel, grass, tea, and just a touch of alcohol warmth. This is really solid, drinkable beer. Quite enjoyable.
