COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hampshire has a huge toasted malt flavor balanced by assertive hoppiness. The finish is long and lingering with the malt and hop notes blending with alcohol warmth. Two row English malts (pale, crystal and chocolate); Cascade, Mt. Hood and East Kent Golding hops.

Aroma is malts, an undercurrent of fruit and a sharp, hard to describe element. The flavor is dark fruit, very nutty/pecans and a hoppy/fruit finish.

Very good ale, nice flavorful hops without some of the odd citrus flavors that would spoil a strong ale. Could be even stronger, but probably right for the style.

I was expecting this to be a special bitter based on the name but, while it definitely has an English character, it is way stronger than a special bitter. It pours a clear amber w/ little head. Its nose is fruity w/ a lot of caramel and an herbal hop presence. Full bodied but not too sweet w/ earthy hops to finish. I can’t place my finger on it quite but there is something a touch off in this beer; the balance is just weird or something and there’s nothing especially good about it to make up for it. It’s an OK beer but no more.

BOtM selection. Malty toasty nose with hint of hops. Hops play prominent roll in this brew but toasty malts provide good back-up. Hop flavor is a bit cloying reminding you of their recent passing over the tongue. Not overly carbonated so you get a full coating on the tongue.

12 ounce bottle from by beer of the month club. Pours a clear copper with a decent biege head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruits. Taste is caramel malt, dark fruit, toffee, and a bit of hops. Nice to sip on.

Damn, really surprised I liked this as much as I do! Last shipment of "Beer of the Month Club" and my experience was mostly disappointing; this beer is a rare example of something I actually enjoy. Reminds me of a rye ipa with some spiciness. I like it.

12oz bottle pours a bright clear amber with a small khaki head. Aroma is floral, caramel malt, browb and honey. Taste is a stinging spicy caramel biscuit malt, with spicy hops. Not enjoying this one.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2012 Bottle shared at a tasting at Ariel’s. Murkey honey colour, off white head. Aromas of Bazooka Joe bubblegum and band-aid. Sweet, then weird bitter taste - none was fun. Light body, average carbonation, short finish. Something’s definitely wrong with the bottle. 5/3/5/2/7=2.2 Re-rate 9/7: bottle, beer of the month club. Murky amber, dark white film. Sweet malt caramel, ripe fruit aroma. Tastes medicinal, alcoholic bitterness, acetone. Sleek texture, medium body, a little fizzy, bread roll finish. 7/3/6/3/10=2.9

Pours a copper with an off white head. Aroma is faint, with nuts, grapes, and apple being noticed. The above flavors are present, and has some sour notes, and is a bit salty as well. Medium body. Slight sour aftertaste. Drinkable, but not to impressive.

Very nice pour, a clear, deep reddish amber with a creamy light beige head that supplies a lot of slipper lace. The aroma has floral scents covering a rich, bready maltiness. Very smooth drinking. The flavor adds a balancing citric bitterness and finishes surprizingly dry. Very nice.
