COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beer #2 of 4 in a special release series celebrating Geary’s 20th Anniversary. Imperial IPA has its origins in the traditional English style, with a generous helping of American exuberance. Bright copper in color, Imperial IPA has an assertive hop bitterness balanced with a subtle malt foundation. Dry-hopping at two stages of the brewing process provides floral and fruity hop flavors adding to the complexity of the brew. Strong, assertive and balanced, Imperial IPA is made for true beer lovers.

Bottle thanks to Bman113vr. The look is clear, golden in color, not too much head. The smell is hops, citrus, fruits, and wood. The taste is hops, citrus, fruits, malts, and caramel.

Not a bad beer by any stretch, but a little harsh. The hops are true English, they add enough spice to the aroma and flavor, but they don’t dominate like an imperial ipa should. The sweet malts become way too sweet by the end and become cloying by the final sip.

From tap at Sunset Grill. Pours hazy orange with a small white and lacing head. Aroma is fruity and crisp citrusy hoppy, light peachy. Bitter, slight herbal, pine and grapefruity hoppy. Ends dry and bitter, yet smooth.

A strong IPA, but one that has a certain lack of punch. There is a hoppiness overall, but the crispness of the hops in the finish seems to be weak. Generally good, but not great.

Bottle. Rusty amber with a medium, bubbly beige head. Aroma is toffee, floral hops, tea leaves, spicy hops, caramel and soft citrus. Taste is caramel, toffee, tea leaves, spicy hops, fainter citrus, and a pleasant earthiness. This is definitely more on the English side of things. Body is medium with a soft, bubbly carbonation. Light lingering bitterness as well. Ends with more toffee, caramel, tea leaves, light citrus notes, spicy and earthy hops, and light floral notes.

Hazy amber/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of citrus hops, caramel malt, & some alcohol; Flavor of sweet malt, some yeast, caramel, pine hops, citrus, and alcohol; Finish is slightly bitter; Overall, sort of a mess (not well balanced) - alcohol too noticeable.

The aroma has hops that are metallic, soapy, and citrusy. The malt is grainy and there is a hint of yeast. The appearance is amber with a foamy head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average for this style. Overall this beer might come close to fitting the style but is not that good.

4/22/11. 12oz bottle. Clear red pour with a small off-white head. Malty alcoholic aroma with some butter in there. Malty bitter alcoholic flavor without much going on. Not great.

Even-toned honey hazy honey in color with a cm of white head. Light citrus, aroma with a bit of malty sweetness. Taste is pretty one-dimensional in terms of high limonene hop flavor and thin English yeasty sourness into the finish. $3/12oz

Hoppy and malty mix in the aroma. Cloudy dark color with a small white head. Bitter beginning developing a mild sweet malt flavor in the end.

I really like everything gearys makes and this is no exception. I think it’s their blend of malts that I like so much. The hops won’t exactly wow anyone, but I didn’t expect it to be a hoppy ipa. It’s really just a high alcohol pale ale... But if you did the gearys flavor you will love it,
