2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jgb9348 (3497) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Crisp copper coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of metallic notes, malt, caramel, toffee, apples, pears and a touch of very light english hops. Medium-bodied; Assertive malt and a touch of caramel and earth noticeable up front with not much hop bitterness, no floral notes and no typical American hop flavours - no citrus, no resin and no pine. Aftertaste shows some metal and malt, a touch of earth and some light caramel and fruits - no hop bitterness at all to be found. Overall, not such a great IPA, but not a horrible beer. No real off flavours, just not enough hop notes, no depth and not good flavour profiles. I sampled this twelve ounce ’stubby’ bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$2.65 sampled at home in Washington on 21-May-2012.
1.6 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 crossovert (2791) - Wisconsin, USA - APR 23, 2012
12 oz bottle. Twist off.
It pours a clear copperish amber with a soapy, foamy slightly off white head that leaves speckled lacing.
The smell is initially dank hops but is overtaken by an overload of butter. I mean the yeast just shit out diacetyl into this one.
The flavor is lightly fruity, not as bad with the diacetyl that was in the aroma. It is still there though with some butterscotch and light hop notes. It has a pleasant bitterness.
A trainwreck of a beer.

12oz poured into a pint jar. Aroma is candy, charcol, roasted malt, and soft preztal without the salt. Taste is Maine in a bottle, especially portland. Earthy, organic and pure, this IPA is stellar yet lacks the distinctive IPA category lable. color resembles an amber, taste also ventures in that direction. the hops are noble yet bounce around too much and are at times dulled by the sweetness and the malt. I guessing around 5.5 and 5.7 for the abv sense it is not listed. This is a good one to throw in the mix if you like to sample a variety of IPA’s. Love Maine beer.

Bottle from Paula. Pours light amber with a creamy/foamy near-white head. Aromas of mild roast caramel and citrus/resin. Near med body. Flavor is resin and roast caramel with a suggestion of citrus. Finishes nicely bitter. Decent; not exciting.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 IPAsavedMYlife (295) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - OCT 11, 2011
All the normal pine and citrus notes you would expect from an ipa. Reasonable sized head, nice construction. The taste, I would say is that of a daily drinker. There are some nice hop notes in there but it just gets muddled by everything else. Reasonable malt backbone, enough to make you want to come back for more and not off putting. Better than most, but still somewhat lacking in a sea of the same style this one doesn’t offer much to the table. Without a doubt, refreshing. Likeability 4/5.

The aroma is assertively hoppy with pine/citrus hops and some malt to balance. The appearance is golden with an orange hue and a medium head. The palate is typical for the style. Overall a nice IPA.

Sample. A middle of the road IPA in my opinion. It was a little on the bitter side for my tastes, but not overpoweringly bitter.

Thanks to Ben for this 12oz bottle.
Pours a light, clear golden amber with a short-lived off-white head that recedes to a thick collar.
Aroma is sweeter than most IPAs but certainly right in line with a typical English IPA. Lots of caramel malts, almost buttery smelling. The hops are present but subtle with mostly grassy floral hops but with some citrus as well.
The taste is more of the same with the butter and caramel from the malts taking the prominent role. The hops are earthy and more present in the finish where there is a bitterness as well as an alochol burn which I wouldn’t expect from a normal IPA.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with good carbonation and comes across as very lively on the palate, especially with the alcohol and hops leaving the tongue stinging after each sip.
The buttery character of the malts weren’t really my thing but the other aspects of the beer line up well for the style. A little crisper and cleaner taste and feel would have made this better for me.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TATE (135) - Lubec, Maine, USA - APR 16, 2011
Bottle. Pours a copper color with an off white head. Plenty of carbonation. Hop aroma is citrusy. Unlike a lot of the west coast IPAs that coat your throat with hop resin so you can’t taste anything else, this is a little more subtle, The hops are forefront in this ale and provide a citrus flavor at the end. Overall a nice IPA.
