COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Faithfully recreated by Geary's, this classic English style has a deep mahogany color and a restrained roasted malt flavor. The result is rich and complex, yet smooth and refreshing.

On tap at Annabell’s Pub. Pours black with a creamy tan head that remained. Aroma is carmel. Mouthfeel is creamy. Very smooth with carmel and roasted flavor with a great balance. Much better on tap than in the bottle.

Draft in a sampler at Great Lost Bear. Pours an opaque brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, toast, molasses, and dark chocolate, with faint, earthy hops. Flavor of nice smooth roast, dark chocolate, coffee, and earthy hops. Medium-bodied, with a rich, roasty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Nice porter and true to the traditional style.

355ml bottle. This porter came off as being kind of modified for North American tastes, which isn’t such a bad thing. I found it more flavourful than some authentic British offerings. The deep red/brown colour approaching black was particularly nice.

Bit bland and too stout like. Yet not offensive and perfectly drinkable for a session. Not much for the nose, balanced easy malt. Nutty. Taste is bit sweet for a porter.

Pours pitch black with a red tinge. The head fades quick but shows quality with lacing. Chocolate and chicory aroma with a blueberry smell as well. No hops displayed in the aroma. The taste is all malt that is strongly burnt and coffee like. What you’d expect from a porter. Also it is light tasting and thin palate which porter drinkers expect and appreciate.

(12oz bottle thanks to Cavie) Black colored with deep ruby highlights. Smells nice and roasty, sweet, molasses, well used espresso beans. On the tongue it’s nutty, a touch chalky, some smoke. Interesting complexity. I like it. I could go for some more of this.

Bottle. Black bodied with a short, foamy brown head. Aroma is chocolaty with roasted malt, bitter coffee and soft, bitter hops. Taste is roasted malt, coffee notes, dark chocolate, hops and hints of salt. At times this reminds me of a Baltic porter. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Finishes with more coffee, roasted malt, light licorice, dark chocolate and hops.

On Draft @ the Great Lost Bear. Black pour with plenty of reds under a huge fluffy white head. Sour metallic aroma. Flavor is watery, roasted malt, slight burnt notes, and some roasty bitterness are all this beer has to offer. Light in body with too much small, prickly carbonation. The finish leaves a lingering bitterness on the tongue. The watery body and bitter finish didn’t make me want anymore of this. Don’t bother with this, find something else.

From a bottle poured a dark brown color with a lot of head. Toasted malty flavor with a quick finish.
