COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Faithfully recreated by Geary's, this classic English style has a deep mahogany color and a restrained roasted malt flavor. The result is rich and complex, yet smooth and refreshing.

3/16/02 Dark, dark color, brownish head, pours rather thin. Roasty, but weak aroma. Can’t say I found it overcarbonated, and there was some interesting fruitiness in the midpalate, but on the whole rather thin and bland, with a quick dull finish. I thought this once had a great reputation; its certainly nothing special now.

4/22/02 maybe the first bottle was a little off; this one seems to have a fuller body and flavor, more fruitiness and chocolate. Guess I’d recommend it, though still not one of the great ones.

This is very good, English-style Porter. There is an incredible roasted flavor, along with a nice aroma. Not quite as rich as say a Fullers, but good on its own merit.

Nice carmel burnt aroma. Not too burnt tasting though, which I appreciate. Strong bitter finish.

It’s not bad. I’d expect a porter of this style to be much more flavorful, I find this beer to be somewhat bland, with an average palate.

Well, i thought this was going to be great. Very dark, almost black color. Very nice fresh roasted/hoppy aroma. Then the first taste...huge spritzyness. If you have seen a lot of my ratings you’ll know that i hate big carbonation. Mouthfilling, couldn’t get to any of the tastes, as it warmed it calmed down a bit. But, just another disappointing porter for the night.

Almost black; Roast & chocolate dominate the aroma; palate is very straightforward in its toastiness. A touch of creaminess in the body and very faint fruitiness round out this beer.

A nice light roasted flavor to start, with a sweet finish. All in all an excellent interpretation of style.

Had this on tap at the Whig and Courier in Bangor. Very smooth flavor with what I thought was a mild hint of lemon lingering there somewhere. Very silky smooth taste, mild carbonation, with a slight bitterness developing in the end. Very nice indeed
