3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MaBeer1972 (972) - Taunton, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 13, 2012
On cask at Driftwood in Plymouth. Served rather cold for a cask though. This one came in with a deep copper color. No head at all. Aroma is malty with a noticable oaky whiff. Flavor has a lot of sweet malts - some bubblegum with a lot of vanilla oak notes. An interesting twist on HSA.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ben4321 (2227) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 24, 2011
Location: Cask at RnH, 2/19/11
Aroma: The nose is basically malts and whiskey, malty sweetness is lead by caramel
Appearance: It pours a clear orangish color with a small cask-like head atop it
Flavor: The taste is pretty similar to the nose, semi-sweet caramel malts and some boozy flavors
Palate: The mouthfeel if this one is fairly smooth, it is nicely drinkable with a touch of heat
Overall Impression:
Looks like I’ll be rater #3. Overall, I thought this was a decent beer. The flavor was fairly solid, the drinkability was decent, and it seemed to work pretty well on cask. The Whiskey Infusion seems to work pretty well here.

Cask at Rattle’n’Hum. Labeled as Hamphire Special Ale Whiskey Infused. I’m assuming this is the same thing. Pours orange amber with no head. The aroma has a bit of a candy like caramel sweetness with some light whiskey notes. The flavor has light whiskey notes, some bready notes, and a candy sugar sweetness. Solid.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 porterhouse (1544) - Alna, Maine, USA - FEB 10, 2011
(On cask @ Great Lost Bear) Served in a shaker, feels a little colder than normal for a cask-conditioned. Pours slightly reddish amber with about a finger of off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, a bit fruity and some bourbon and vanilla along with some alcohol. Mouthfeel smooth, pretty full and with more carbonation than normal for a cask-conditioned. Some broken rings of lacing. Flavor has kind of a wow factor initially. I was expecting alot of bourbon and toffee but instead found a strong sort of fruity, cherry-candy-mango note upfront overlaying the more subtle toffee and caramel underneath. Light bit of ABV presence. Maybe a bit buttery since I think they use Ringwood. Not sure if the "candy-mango" is from the Makers Mark but it’s different than a typical bourbon-barrel flavor. Not much wood presence. A little different, but good.
