2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20 cazort (456) - Newark, Delaware, USA - SEP 4, 2006
Aroma sweet, weak, not at all hoppy. Texture fizzy, thin. There are very little hops in this brew. This tastes only slightly better than a macro-brew; the malt is very poor quality, macro-like, with a slight unpleasant sourness to it, and a tad too sweet. Overall, the beer is weak, watery, mediocre. I would not get it again.

Got this at Jameson Tavern Restaurant as part of a local sampler. The waitress said it was brewed by Geary’s exclusively for this restaurant/pub. Not much smell to it. Lighter golden body with thin tan head. Somewhat flat. Tastes sweet with very little hop bitterness to speak of. Slight bitterness on the finish though. Sweet, almost fruity beer. Not bad. Earlier Rating: 8/5/2006 Total Score: 3.4 I start out with a soft spot for this one, it being relatively local and Geary being one of the original movers and shakers in bringing the craft-brew/micro-brew revolution to Maine... Having said that..

Reddish amber body with very thin offwhite head. Smells not at all strong, mostly of hop (piney hop really). Tastes not too strong, piney hops very present, but surprisingly well-balanced. Not the strongest pale ale I’ve had, but I like it. It’s tasty and refreshing, and I’d definitely have it again. Having said that, their London Porter is much better.

Bottle. My sister Anne sent this to me. Since both of our Godfather’s name is Geary, I felt inclined to quaff this at a desirable time. That time is now.... golden color with no real head. The nose is certainly English style pale ale with a bit of hop and a bit of malt... The flavor is the same... not bad, not great, but a very good example of the style. Light bodied and very highly carbonated. Not bad.

Draught. Copper colored, slightly hoppy in aroma, with small white head. Typical pale, good and malty with decent dry finish. Refreshing, if not very special for a session beer.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2007 This was not as good as expected. The flavors were not as hoppy as I would like. This just was not a special experience. Amber in color and a modest head. I had another on Friday after Thanksgiving 2007. The same reaction. This is just not a good Pale Ale. It has chemical tatse not citrus like most APA.

After going through too many dissappointing brews, this little gem touched my tounge. Suprisingly drinkable, this is a relatively decent pale ale. Sit down to some seafood and enjoy it’s light bodied character and subtly hopped flavor.

Bottle. Amber. Aroma wasn’t that appealing, but not horrible. Bitter flavor with hoppiness.

Nice amber coloring, somewhat of a dull scent, but still pleasing. Taste is quite malty but refreshing, with a hint of unique hops. Good for summer barbeques.
