Draft at Rupununi’s. This beer sits in the company of all the unremarkable pale ales. Decent enough, but just not much there.Dark gold body with a small, off-white head. Mild aroma of flowers and caramel. Hints of bread and fruit, maybe. The flavor is lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body with adequate carbonation and watery texture.

12 oz. bottles purchased at C.E. Reilly’s in New Harbor, Maine. A Maine classic, Geary’s is a nice pale ale that betters many of the east coast breweries. I like the smooth texture and mild hoppiness. I know that if my picky dad likes it, it has to be all right.

Very strong, cloudy beer with alcohol being the predominant flavor. Very malty, like a whiskey.

Golden-amber colour. Earthy, minerally nose with hints of diacetyl. Rather light body. More diacetyl than I’d like and not enough body. Some minerals but this is kind of lousy.

Draught @ Buck’s Naked BBQ, Freeport. Deep copper, no head. Tin and diacetyl nose typical of Maine. Quaffable mouthfeel, balanced. Crystal malt. Decent innocuous beer to go with the gigantic portions of food.

Gold with white head that dies quickly. Bready aromas with a hint of perfumy hops in the background, fairly dusty as well. Flavor is medium caramel malt with a helathy dose of hops bitterness throughout, again dusty. Very drinkable, tastes like so many American ESBs and Ambers.

I picked up a sampler case of this, at one of my local distributors. I passed up Okocim, Czechvar, and Breckenridge, because I thought this to be the more rare of the others. I got it to try this beer, which was 1 of Michael Jackson’s 500 best. I must say, I found it to be rather forgettable. I am certainly not Mr. Jackson’s protege, but I must say the aroma was subtle malts, a little hops, with a bit of some sweet fruit fragrance. The color was a nice reddish amber, with a decent white head. It’s taste was a bit light on the malts and hops, with a bigger serving of sweet fruit instead. I found it to be very smooth, nicely carbonated, and overall tasty, but not really something I would have to have again. Puzzling why this is considered 1 of the 500. Either way it is a nice session

The aroma is yeasty with malt and some grassy hops. The appearance is amber with a small head. The flavor is like paper with all of the elements from the aroma. The palate is average. This is average as a beer.
