COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The style of our summer ale is traditionally European, similar to a German kolsch: full bodied with a spicy hop tang and a rich, crystal clear golden color. Alcohol content is approximately 6% by volume.
Ingredients: Two row English malt (clarity, wheat and caramalt); Magnum, Tettnang and Saaz hops.

12 oz - Courtesy of the Wine Source. Thanks, Brian! Clear dark copper, creamy white head. Soft buttered dried fruit and band-aid aromas ride hints of earthy grains throughout. Toasty dried fruit flavors balance on light swirls of caramel and earth. Light to medium bodied, soft crbonation, light bittersweet finish. Decent, but nothing special....

Nice copper color with a white head. Aroma of bananas followed by hops and light hints of bleu cheese (yes, I said bleu cheese). Flavor is on the grainy side, grainy malt with not much bitterness in the finish. I think the aroma is this beer’s best characteristic, a little too grainy and wheaty for my preference in the summer beer category.

(bottle - 12 oz) Golden color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is malty and doughy at the start with some light hop pepper and citrus underneath. Mild hops and sweetness at the beginning with some light flower notes. Middle is crisp and malty with some dry grass as well. Finishes clean with the lightest touch of bitterness but a slight metallic twang.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2009 A: Poured with a fairly large, white frothy head that retains at 1-finger size throughout drinking. Body is completely clear and sparkling, and a dark, golden color. Looks quite lively; lots of bubbles rising to the top. A very nice-looking beer. S: All I can really smell is light malt... kind of bready. T: Quite disappointing... it’s lightly sweet and malty, with a very short-duration. In a word: bland. Bland, and boring. M: Medium-bodied and quite creamy, and with soft carbonation. Very surprising, actually, how soft it is, based on how lively it looks. D: I wouldn’t refuse this beer if it was given to me, but I certainly wouldn’t ever seek it out again. Very disappointing, especially considering how nice it looked when I poured it.

On tap in Portland, ME. Pours a clear, light orange with a thin white head that has little retention and no lacing. Aroma of doughy malts, light citrus, slight Saaz hops, light caramel. Taste is bready and sort of buttery with a slight citrus tang. Clean and crisp. Neutral aftertaste. Unoffensive. Good session beer. Tastes like a pretty damn good lager rather than a blond ale. Medium bodied (a surprise for a summer ale).

Not too bad. This is probably one of the better summer ales I’ve had but it’s just not my style. This whole summer ale thing is just a little too sweet for me. It’s probably better for somebody else. No offense given in any way.

Bottle. Pours a dark golden body with a white head. Hints of caramel, light fruity esters and wheat. Hints of butter and a light grainy bitterness.
