COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The style of our summer ale is traditionally European, similar to a German kolsch: full bodied with a spicy hop tang and a rich, crystal clear golden color. Alcohol content is approximately 6% by volume.
Ingredients: Two row English malt (clarity, wheat and caramalt); Magnum, Tettnang and Saaz hops.

12oz bottle. 2013 version, rustic quay and "Geary’s" in playful neon on label. Best edition in years -- turned up the malt a touch. Pours a shade darker than blond. Nose is tropical and grassy with a little roasty hint. Palate is smooth and creamy, yet light. Nice play of citrus and tropical fruit with a tiny hint of nuts and banana. The mention of banana, many, myself included, would find a little frightening. Don’t fret. It works perfectly into the background of the complexity.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a clear golden yellow colored body with a one finger white foamy head that quickly dies, slight foamy lacing and rings are left in the wake. The smell had malts and the hops with a bit of citrus in the background. There is a slight biscuity smell ever so slightly in the background. The taste was pretty much the same as the smell with a slight hop bite in the finish. On the palate, it sat at/about a light to medium with moderate carbonation on the tongue. Overall, this is a solid brew by Geary’s that I would come back to.

Cheers!

Clear copper amber with a good off-white head and streaks of lace. Aroma and taste is malt and butter rum, enough that it leaves a film on the roof of the mouth. The finish offers a little hop bittering, but one may question how much is actually accepted. Okay to have a couple on a cool summer evening, not for big drinking days.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 7/2/13

Aroma: The nose has some spice, bread, caramel, and a bit of butter
Appearance: It pours a cloudy orange color with a small white head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The "offness" comes through more, otherwise the components are the same as the nose
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a lively carbonation, and a dry, spicy finish
Overall Impression: There’s something sort of buttery that throws this one off. It’s subtle enough in the nose, but unfortunately, comes through more in the flavor. It’s okay outside of that, but that is hard to get past.

TATE (265) - Lubec, Maine, USA - JUN 30, 2013
Bottle. Pours a bit hazy amber with thick off white head. Pine and butter aroma. The beginning is creamy and light malty almost nutty with a tinge of metallic taste. Then the buttery diacetyl flavor comes in and a cloying lingering bitterness from the hops. Its okay, but maybe a dryer finish would have been better from a summer ale.

Bottle. Pours yellow to light amber, light body. A summer ale with extra hops, usually pick up a six per summer, good enough to go back to but once a year is fine.

lots of carbonation and some definite fruit on the nose. surprising amount of hops on the tongue. finish is fairly bitter. This seems like a light-bodied pale ale trying to masqurade as a summer ale - seems even hoppier than a typical Kolsch. Incorrect categorization maybe?

Pours a nice deep copper with and average head. Starts sweet and malty with some grainyness and fruity. It ends fairly bitter.
