Bitter, hoppy, light. Not a bad beer for summer. I’ve had better from Maine, but it’d do in a pinch.

bottle 4/29/05. Poured a very very thin white head, no lacing. Has a very distinct sweet kind of skunked nose. I don’t know how to better describe it. I’m not very familiar with Kolsch beers but telling from the other raters this is apparently un-traditional to a Kolsch. Very dark golden yellow. Smell is kind of wierd but tastes very good of very sweet flavors and kind of a frutish finish. Very refreshing, crisp and clean. Would have to problem drinking this all summer long. I am a sucked for summer beers though. Try if you get the chance.

golden color with little head. not an overpowering ale by any means. easy drinking with a sweet aroma and flavor. clean and a bit fruity.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 3daddict (139) - Portland, Maine, USA - JUL 15, 2005
It poured a clear medium dark amber with an average head. Subtle grassy hop aroma with just a touch of citrus peel. Perfect ale flavor, very mild spice, nicely balanced with a slightly dry, bitter finish. A no miss choice for a summer ale

Had the caske version of this at the great lost bear. Deffinitly slightly better than the typical bottle version. A great summer beer though. Crisp and sweet....and the caske version has a little bit of a bitter kick to it.

This was definitely one of the best I have had from Geary’s thus far. Had a very spicy yet hoppy flavor with some sort of mild citrus aftertaste (not quite sure which citrus). And true to the description, it has a wonderful golden color in the glass. I would recommend this to anybody that’s not afraid of hops and especially to anybody who likes beer (definition- beer: not a macrobrew which closely resemnbles in taste that which has been sweapt off the floor of a grainery, fed to and recovered from (after ingestion) the livestock, and then soured in ’sparkling spring water’)
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 nahthan (129) - Oakland, California, USA - JUL 9, 2006
12oz bottle courtesy of my well-travelled neighbor. Copper color in the glass with a nice thick foamy head that dissapates quickly. Aroma is caramel/bread/malt with a slight alcohol nose. Not much hop aroma. Slight malty/breadiness on the palate. A good dose of caramel that lingers on the tongue a touch too long in the finish. It is a little too sweet, I suspect the finishing gravity is over 1.016. Nice spicy hop flavor finish from the saaz/tettnang. Clean, back of the tongue bitterness from the Magnum. An enjoyable beer.

Very refreshing, yet it has a great aroma and flavor. It will probably be my spring/summer lawnmower beer of choice.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 SwillNoMore (105) - USA - APR 15, 2007
Bottle, from Duvel tulip, at cellar temp. Crystal clear reddish gold body. Dissipating, frothy, slightly off-white head; weak lacing. Bready aroma, notes of citrus and spice, black pepper; quite interesting. Medium-light body, lightly creamy texture, soft carbonation. A sweet caramel foundation with a mild hoppy bite. Dry finish. I’m not much of a Geary’s fan, but this wasn’t bad. I can tell this would be quite refreshing served cold on a hot day.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 RPKLove (105) - Astoria, New York, USA - JUL 1, 2010
Very sweet aroma, almost like butterscotch, also very roasty. Copper-colored, decent froth, not spectacular. This beer is heavy on sweetness and not much else, nothing to really add balance. My palate doesn’t detect any hops just malts. Very thin.
