COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The style of our summer ale is traditionally European, similar to a German kolsch: full bodied with a spicy hop tang and a rich, crystal clear golden color. Alcohol content is approximately 6% by volume.
Ingredients: Two row English malt (clarity, wheat and caramalt); Magnum, Tettnang and Saaz hops.

jgb9348 (3497) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JAN 20, 2009
Crystal amber coloured body with a thin off-white head and an orange/ruby tint. Aroma of metal, lemon, malt and a bit of funkyness. Medium to Light-bodied; Very mild maltiness with a super small amount of hops and sugar, but a lot of metal and bitter flavours. Aftertaste is sweet and mild - nothing harsh at all. Overall, not my favourite summer beer - it could be a lot better, but its still good to try during the season. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 02-June-2005 at Jon(R888710)’s.

kramer (3459) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 1, 2006
12 oz bottle, via porterhouse. Pours a clear dark gold with a medium fizzy head that faded to a thin film. Aroma is light and zesty with grassy hops and crisp malts. Flavor is on the lighter side as well with a clean wheat base and a soft hoppiness. Finish is short with a slight lemony smack. Mouthfeel is soft and refreshing with moderate firm carbonation. A nice summer refresher, this was a great treat on our first 90 degree day of the year here in PA.

Draft @ a Bar in Camden Maine. Pours light amber with a half finger tan head. Nose is light bitter hops. Tastes sweet, with a nice hoppiness that rolls over the tongue. Nice and fresh and a nice bitterness for the Summer.

Pours gold into a kolsh glass. Conglomerate head slowly recedes; leaving no lacing. Bright wheat, honey and caramel notes. Upfront hoppy citrus with a malty, lasting caramel finish that lasts a little more than it’s welcome and turns bitter.

Cask at Lazy Boy. Very nice beer. Full on smooth refreshing taste, moderate euro hops and great pale malt flavors. Perfect body from the cask, and extremely drinkable.

Butters (3014) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUL 8, 2010
Clear copper pour with small ring of white head. Nose is sweet and rich corn. Not like a light lager or adjuncts. Flavor is lightly bitter, like a weak noble hop tea. A little chewy and somewhat spicy floral finish. Not really refreshing, but not a horrible brew.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2008 This bottle courtesy of John jjpm74, thanks and appreciation go his way! Shorter brown 12 oz bottle with a twist off cap. At first I thought the aroma was rather dishwatery but it cleared immediately to a unique sweetish candy aroma typical of many strong ales. I’m almost afraid to taste it for fear of an alky impact. This brew is a little darker than the typical pale yellow american lager, nearly the color of yuengling’s traditional, almost but not quite orange. Tho the aroma is strong, the taste of this is laid back for a 6% brew. The alky does not hit immediately but begins to build with each taste on the sides of the tongue. No head on this beer just a thin girdle around the inside of the glass. For 6%, this stuff is friendly and well behaved, the alky content is tasted but it’s certainly not in yer face. Medium low carbonation. This brew is more enjoyable than other kolsch I’ve had such as Flying Dog Tire Bite Golden Ale, Schell Zommerfest and Rock Bottom Hoochie Koochie Kolsch. The fruit background hints in this brew make the bitterness much more acceptable. This stuff is on par with the best kolsch I’ve tasted, John Havard’s Monroeville Kolsch. Not one to enjoy bitterness, real kolsch does not appeal to me but this one is probably one of the more palatable. Finish is a medium bit of malty bitterness that hangs for a few moments after the last swig. It is then that you feel some alky on the palate.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a mostly clear gold with a moderate linen white head that lasted through the first two sips and left light lace. The aroma is just awful on this beer; a combination of modeling glue and sweet caramel. It smells just horrible. Its difficult to discern the flavor because the aroma just gets in the way. I am picking up some caramel and malt followed by some mild-moderate bitterness. Whatever is making this awful aroma is apparently not affecting the flavor. Nonetheless, this is completely undrinkable and will be poured down the drain.

Pours light golden with a frothy off-white head. The aroma has grainy lightly toasted malt, light butter (not offputting) and light spice - very clean. The body is very light and crisp with some sharpness and underlying sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with pale mildly toasted malt, mild spicy hops and a small amount of butteriness. A decent easy drinking beer.
