2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 radioscooter (41) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 9, 2011
Looks great.
Smells pretty good.
Tastes uh, chalky and soury.
Not much of a Scotch Ale.
Maybe like a Scotch Ale/Bruin de Flanders sour...
Yergggh. Sorry. Not the best review. Just had after something remarkable. But still...it is not good at all.
Chocolate up front, sour cherry mid, dry, sour finish. End of story.
Glad I got in a trade. Probably would not buy for any reason.

Draft. Pours amber brown with a tan head. Sweet malty aroma with some toasty and earthy notes. The flavor has sweet malts, toast, molasses, a fruity hint, and some earthy/peaty notes. Pretty good.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Lubiere (6707) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 6, 2011
A dark reddsih borwn ale with a thick dark brown head. In aroma, vinous licorice and herbs, chinotto, treacle, like a barley wine. In mouth, a smooth scotch ale with nice caramel, molasses, very nice and smooth. Rich and nutty. On tap at Boston Beer Summit, Jan. 15 2011.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Arayaga2 (1435) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 29, 2010
Even opaque brown with a thin caramel colored head. Aroma is wort, caramel and cider. Taste is the same with a thin, dry treacle taste that’s deeply bitter and sweet around the edges, and finishes with cidery apple.$3/12oz

12oz. Bottle: Sweet aroma of malt, peat, light raisin, dark ripe fruit, and some molasses. Poured mahogany/ruby/brown in color with a medium-sized, creamy, tan/light-brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Hazy. Sparkling. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of malt, dark ripe fruit, light peat, slight chocolate, caramel, light molasses, honey, and some roasting. Medium to full body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Dark ripe fruit, raisin, malt, light roasting, slight peat finish is slightly sticky and slightly dry. 8%ABV is completely hidden throughout.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Heathen (1241) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - NOV 5, 2010
THOUGHTS: A very nice Scotch Ale. There was a crazy fruitiness that I can’t fully describe. It was very malty. Got a bit cloying fairly quick. There could’ve been a little more balanced. It hid the alcohol very well at first and then it started to dome out a little more as it warmed, but it fit in nice with the beer and its style.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark, brownish ret with an average, off-white head that kept a nice sheet and then jut a ring, but left fair to good lacing. The aroma was heavy, molasses, slight caramel, a hint of coffee; apple, cherry, toffee, brown sugar, maple syrup and that crazy fruitiness I mentioned above. The initial flavor was rather sweet and slightly acidic; while the finish was heavily sweet, slightly bitter, lightly acidic and ever so slightly sour with an average to long duration. There was caramel, toffee, maple syrup, molasses, apple, cherry, a little alcohol, chocolate syrup and brown sugar. The medium body was oily and a bit syrupy and then dry with fizzy carbonation and a chalky, very dry and lightly alcoholic finish.

Some earthy hops and caramel malt, but not mich going on. Easy to drink for the ABV.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dorwart (2110) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - APR 1, 2010
About a 1 inch thick head of dense and creamy bubbles. Nice sweet malty aroma with some brown sugar and some roasted grains. Not very complex but enticing. Color is hazy dark brown with a hint of red along the edges. Flavor is a bit on the watery side. Some roasted malts, smoked grains, dark fruit (raisin) and brown sugar again. Could use some more malt body and some peat and earthy notes. Does not seem anywhere near 8% abv. An ok scotch ale.
