Slightly yellow tinge in the tiny ceramic cup. Smell is a bit alcoholic, but more warming than solventy. There’s a delicate flavor with a bit of plum brandy, but it’s mostly washed down by the alcohol.

Clear pour. Subtle, dry aroma of rice and alcohol, mostly alcohol. A bit sweet with a minor kick at the end

Not really a sake fan. This is pretty sweet, vodka-like honeyness. Not better than a good beer, but nothing bad. Sake seems to lack depth.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4785) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 4, 2011
From a760 ml bottle. The sake poured a pale yellow-golden color. The aroma was grass, rice, lemongrass and pronounced alcohol. Dryish with strong notes of rice, lemongrass and vodka. There was a faint undertone of vanilla that popped up for a minute and was then drowned in lemongrass and rice. Long tangy lemongrass finish. Fairly full bodied and oily texture. Ok.

My first sake, from a 720ml bottle. Rice aroma, clear, colorless pour, tastes of rice and alcohol. Fairly sweet, but good. (Not sure how to rate it; going middle-of-the-road for the time being.)

720 ml bottle. Pours clear and looks like water or vodka. Taste is of alcohol and is faintly of rice. A little sweet and the body is a little oiley. Good cold or warm. Reminds me of rubbing alcohol and vodka. Easy to drink and not half bad, but I was expecting a little more. Seems like a sake that could be used when doing shots.

A powerful sake with a heavy flavor of rice. The palate is semi thick with a long finish. mild wood and dry flavor make this a treat to drink.

Nothing about this Sake is subtle. The aroma has lots of rice, alcohol, grass, and wood. The appearance is virtually crystal clear. The flavor is like the aroma with a short burst followed by a dry, herbal finish. The palate is slightly oily. Overall it’s interesting but could be better.
