Commercial Description:
Inspired by southern German Dunkelweizen, this is first time we’ve made this style of beer, Brown colored, it has caramel notes along with the distinctive banana and clove flavors imparted by the Bavarian ale yeast. A significant portion of malted wheat provides a lightness of palate to this unique brew.

Thin dense head of beige bubbles. Light carbonation. Aroma is mosty malt with some dry roasted grains in the aroma. Dark ruby brown in color. Thin and extreamly soft palate. Probably from the wheat. More malts and a dry fruity bitterness. Very strange combination of flavor but still quite good. Noticable alcohol presence. Ready for this. Little bit of string beans in the flavor also. Finishes soft and clean. Different and decent.

Draft at the brewpub, July 2006. A hazy orange-red beer with a rim of brown head. The aroma is of oranges and wheat. The flavor is wheaty combined with notes of caramel and strawberries, leading to a dry wheaty end where a note of berries lingers for a long time.

Deep, red-tinged copper body with a soft, velvety cream-colored head. Very nice clove, chocolate, and fried banana aromas. Phenols are clean and pleasant. Rich and malty flavor with a hint of dark fruit and some nice yeast signatures. Moderate-high sweetness, but plenty of balancing character. Ample, bready texture and body. Very good dunkleweizen, but it’s so flavorful that it’s almost cloying and not exactly quaffable. Great as an 8-ounce sipper though.
