Brownish in color with a roasty, malty aroma that is quite inviting. Flavor has some nice breadiness and light hops with a pleasant finish. Its still a mild, but damn good for the style.

Sweet nose. Murky brown with a small head. Straight and simply malty...rather one-dimensional, though by design. Notes: Found this old rating, shame to see the General Lafayette go.

Another unimpressive brew from GLI. Slight detection of roasted malts and nuttyness in the aroma and flavor. Medium bodied, decent carbonation - drinkable.

On tap at the General. Poured dark brown with a nice prickly beige head. Nose of subtle caramel malt, saaz hops (?), yeast. Extremely balanced flavor with some slightly fruity, yeasty elements, a good caramel malt base, and the hops. Really liked this one...I think I read that this is the brewer’s favorite of all the GL beers. It’s a highly sessionable, flavorful mild ale that was really well executed.

On tap at the GLI Brew Pub. Poured a darker brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of roasted and burnt malts and some caramel. Tastes of the same burnt/roatiness, caramel, and somewhat nutty.

Dark brown pour little off white head and some lacing ..... caramel and nut malt aroma .... nice sweet caramel & nutty roasted malt flavor with a slight bitter finish .... a great mild ale to chill and watch the phils game with

[Cask at General Lafayette] Red amber color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, and dark fruits. Taste of raisins, citrus fruits, caramel malts, nuts, and finishing semi-sweet.
