COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Be wary of this sweet, roasty, full-bodied behemoth. If you’re not careful, this strong Scotch-style ale will gobble you up. Imported malt, hops, and yeast provide authentic highland flavor.

Tap at the brewpub. Clear deep brownish red with a tan head. Sweet malty aroma with whiskey like notes. Swet malty flavor, with lingering sticky malt on the palate. Thick and full. Nice!

Thin head of dense and creamy bubbles. Light carbonation. Awesome aroma loaded with sweet malts, vanilla, malted milk balls, dark fruit and some milk chocolate. Color is a dark brown. Luscious flavor. Lots of malts, milk chocolate, caramel and a hint of peat. No real smokiness which is unfortunate. Chewey palate but silky smooth and goes does so easy. Mild alcohol presence. Finishes smooth and malty. A very fine scotch ale. Glad I was able to make it out to sample this one.

Sampled from a growler on 2/13/07: Pours a very dark mahogany with a thin, spotty-lacing coating of light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel with some peaty notes and a touch of dark fruitiness. Body starts fairly sweet and full with earthy caramel maltiness and some light smoke and dark fruits. A very nice Scotch ale.

Poured a hazy dark brown-amber color wiht a small beige head. The aroma was on the large side. Sweet and malt foward. Nice fruity and peaty notes. the flavor was fruity and malty with notes of sugar and a peaty-grapeness. Medium to full bodied. Light bitterness and semi-dry.

Draft at GLI. Rich red with a small head but could be partly due to the servers pour. Taste is milky and lactic Still, it’s sweet and chocolate milk like. Some bitterness makes this a nice scotch ale.

Draft at the Brewpub. Aroma is perfumey alcohol, candied dark fruits, sweet malts and a very light smokiness. The body is a ruddy brown and holds a diminishing pinky sized tan head.

Very boozy and alcoholic from the first sip with perfumey alcohol, fruit, sweet malt and a touch of caramel and fig. Fairly enjoyable drink if a touch hot.

kramer (4989) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 5, 2007
On tap at brewpub, 2/1/07. Pours a clear dark red with a ruby hue under a creamy light brown head. Aroma is sweet syrupy maltiness with a hint of smoke, dark fruits, light coffee, and a touch of alcohol. Flavor is very thick and sweet with alot of warming alcohol on the finish. No real smoke like I picked up in the nose, just lots of fruitiness. Mouthfeel is thick and slightly syrupy with very fine fizzy carbonation. The best of the bunch that was on tap the day I was there. Nice thick malt, warming but not overly hot.

On draft at the brewpub. Pours a dark yet clear rusty orange amber with a small off white head. Aroma of buttery notes, barley, and candied malts. Taste of buttery notes, candied malt, tangy hops, earth and grains.
