COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not for the faint of heart or palate, this German-style dopplebock is a meal in a glass. Primary sustenance for Monks during lent, it was called “liquid bread” and “The Savior”. German and Belgian malts provide raisin, plum, date, currant flavors along with a hint of cocoa and licorice. Served in 14oz tulip-shaped glass only.

Brown pour, with aroma of caramel roasty malt, some almonds and fruit, and brown sugar. The flavor is very malty with back-up nuts, a lot of brown sugar, some toffee and cinnamon, and some dark fruit flavor hints. Nice balance and complexity. This one is a standout.

On tap at the GLI. Poured a deeper reddish/brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of licorice, raisins, other dark fruits, and some alcohol. Tastes started out on the bready side with dark fruits, light chocolate, and ended in a light alcohol finish. On the sweeter side. I enjoyed it.
