1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 blackflag321 (21) - Dimondale, Michigan, USA - FEB 1, 2012
Bought a 6-pack of bottles because I wanted to try the cheapest beer in the store. When I turned to craft beers after more than 30 years drinking mass-produced American lagers, I said I wouldn’t be a beer snob and still drink them sometimes. But if Genesee was all that was available to me for 30 years, I would have turned to hard liquor!
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 rangerred (201) - Johnson City, Tennessee, USA - JAN 14, 2012
12 stubby bottle poured into a pint glass.
Appearance is crystal clear light yellow. Plenty of carbonation leads to a fairly thick white head that lingers . Pretty good lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smells somewhat sweet with bready malt and corn.
Flavor is corny up front along with cereal grain and a hint of breadiness. A sweetness pervades throughout with a light bitterness coming in at the finish along with a tiny bit of hop flavor. Finishes clean and dry.
Overall I am quite surprised by this beer. It is pretty tasty with no off flavors and has some hoppyness. Would be excellent on a hot day. One of the better AAL’s.

Can (24 oz.) pours a clear straw pale yellow color with a short lived white foamy head. Minimal lacing along the side of the glass. Slightly sweet malt and cereal grain aroma and flavor. Easy to drink but also easy to forget.

Bottle. Sour corn/barley malt aroma. Pale yellow color with large head. Lightly sweet corn and barley malt flavor. Light hint of hops in the finish. Guess it was worth $7.99 for a 12 pack.

Tasted on 12/10/11 from a squat 12oz bottle, thanks to Ryan for this one. Pours a perfectly clear, very light golden yellow (nearly clear), with an average white head that recedes quickly to a thin collar of lace. The nose is corny with a hint of wheat cereal, and just a hint of light bitterness. The flavor is lightly sweet corn and cereal wheat up front, moving to a hint of spicy bitterness. The body is light with lively, stinging carbonation, and a short corny, lightly spicy and bitter finish.
1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 drdisque (256) - Illinois, USA - DEC 6, 2011
From the squat throwback bottle from the Genesee sampler pack. Average old man beer. Nothing special about the flavor. Probably the worst of the 3 (others being the Cream ale and 12 Horses). Still, there’s much worse beers out there than this.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2011 16 oz can. Thanks Brenn79. Genesee come to Idaho! Alright then. Pours almost clear gold with a small disappearing white head. Aroma is really corny, maybe a little vomity. Taste is as inoffensive and bland as any macro swill out there. There’s nothing here to distinguish it from all the others. Highly carbonated with a thin body. Boring as fuck.

16 oz. can- Pours pale lagerish obviously with a thin white head. Aroma is adjunct grain, corn, cheap shit. The taste is wow, cheap, grainy again, pale lagerish, we all know what that means. Bland and boring but nothing offesive. Thin, watery, cheap.
