3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 rangerred (340) - Johnson City, Tennessee, USA - JAN 14, 2012
12 stubby bottle poured into a pint glass.
Appearance is crystal clear light yellow. Plenty of carbonation leads to a fairly thick white head that lingers . Pretty good lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smells somewhat sweet with bready malt and corn.
Flavor is corny up front along with cereal grain and a hint of breadiness. A sweetness pervades throughout with a light bitterness coming in at the finish along with a tiny bit of hop flavor. Finishes clean and dry.
Overall I am quite surprised by this beer. It is pretty tasty with no off flavors and has some hoppyness. Would be excellent on a hot day. One of the better AAL’s.

Lighten up beer geeks of the world. This is all American lawn mower beer.
Men drink this type of beer not sensitive types that find the bubbles cause a tummy issue. This is an adjunct American simple beer BUT it works better than the majors MBC.

One of the better domestics. Light flavor that goes down smooth. Much better from a bottle than the can, flavor is very different.

Wow! I guess everyone is more into the micros and foriegn beers. I think this is one of the better (best) macros in the US! This is especially good on tap. I agree this is not one of the best BEERS in the world, but for the price it beats the Bud and Coors, and you will not even get the headache that the competitors give you. If you are out and don’t want to overpay for an American macro, choose the best, Genesee!

It’s a fullbodied beer for people who will drink a six pack at one sitting. Reasonably priced in Rochester NY.

Genny is good beer and the last of the type of American beer made by local breweries. It has a real beer taste, aroma, and has a nice head. It great on a summer afternoon with a hot dog. Honest brew worth trying. Its NOT the cheap crap that these other reviewers make it out to be. Give it a try.

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2008 12oz can-pours a white head and pale yellow color. Aroma is vinegar/apple. Taste is vinegar/apple, worse than bud.
080116-a newer can? re-rate-pours a foamy dissipating white head and yellow color. Aroma is light/medium malt, secondary spicy hops. Taste is grain, light/medium malt-some sweetness, secondary spicy/floral hops. Crisp. Light side of medium body. OK carbonation. 3.0

I do not like domestic beer really and it's generally a bit dull. While Genesee is not completly exempt it is a good beer. No bitterness, no after taste and a plesent flavor. Yet is it is unexciting in style. Good for its type though
