COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Genesee Bock Beer Special Edition, from Genesee!
Our take on the 16th century German legend has turned out to be a legend in its own right. For every spring since 1951, our brewery has carefully crafted and lagered Genesee Bock Beer. The result is an exceptionally hearty, full-flavored beer with a slight malty finish—and a perfect way to celebrate the snow melt.

12oz - Glad to see it reappear. Foamier head, darker red color than Genesee. Similar flavor, not really a Bock in profile, but far less sweet than Genesee. I like it.

(can - 12 oz) Picked up a special edition twelve pack of this. Clear amber color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is very light with some hops, caramel, grass, wet hay, and metal. Flavor is very smooth and malty. Not a lot of hop balance, but it really didn’t need it. Smooth and bready at the middle and finishes clean. For $6.50 a twelve pack, you can’t go wrong.

Genesee Bock Beer is a crystal clear reddish amber beer with a soft, pillowy, off-white head that leaves fluffy lacing on the glass. I would like to note that it’s about the coolest looking beer can I’ve ever seen. It looks like it came straight from the 1970’s. The aroma is fresh sweet grainy malt with a touch of pretzels. It has a medium-light body that’s smooth and slick. It’s quenching. It is very simple and smooth-- slightly sweet, but mostly bread-like. The flavor is pretzel-like, as the aroma is. The hops are on the distant horizon. It’s very mellow. What an awesome session ale! It’s like six bucks for a twelver over at Wegmans. I’m gonna go buy one right now!

Aroma is malty meets alcoholic, and pours like ginger ale with a small white, quickly diminishing head. The lacing lasts the entire way down and is inviting by any standard, macro or micro. Flavor is nice.......maybe like a fuller bodied and more flavorful version of Genny’s-own cream ale? There’s a slight presence of caramel and tastes enough like a bock to please my palate. Glad to finally get my hands on this one. Fantastic macrobrew........and I love the vintage can graphics!

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2009 Can. Reddish-amber. Im pounding the "limited edition" Gennese Bock Beer, available for $6.25/12 pack at Beers of the World in Winton Plaza, Rochester, NY, purchased on 3/7/08. Extremely affordable for a beer of this type. Not exactly a true Bock Beer, but nonetheless a good session beer, miles ahead of any BMC crap. If you REALLY want to try this beer but cant seem to find it, PM ME.

Can. My first thoughts when I see this brand are "stale nearly green putrescence!". In other words, I am by no means a fan of "Genny". However, this brew proves to have some redeeming values, most certainly not in the outdated (1970’s) can art! Anyways, the brew poured a slight reddish brown with a very nice thick head, which diminished quickly. Aromas are that of sweet malts and some notes of caramel. Very light bodied and in flavour as well. But it is quite drinkable. This is by no means a typical bock, I think they sort of missed their target, but made a decent brew at that! Enjoy it if you can find it.

This one is my favorite Genny brews but it is impossible to find in my area, even when it is in season. I like the amber color and the smooth taste. But it is easy to drink a lot of them.

Not a conventional bock in my opinion. But this was actually not all that bad.

Got as a gift from a friend. I honestly wasn’t expecting much (after having tried their other beers). To be honest, it wasn’t bad. I think it is a little light (both in color and body) for style but it was fairly smooth. No realy bitterness. All in all, not to bad.

Can. Pours light amber with a decent white head, Aroma of sweet malts, slight caramel, and grain. Flavor is weak, smooth, sweet, not bad, but weak for a bock. Decent brew.
